WIW: trying to make my classic shirt look less boring

I just started watching the show "Bones" , first season, not sure if any of the ladies ever watch it but I like the main character style. I noticed that she always wears simple classic clothes and then adds some sort of "ethnic" jewelry which lot of times involves dramatic neckace. I was sort of trying to do the same thing today and add "artsy" jewelry to my classic button down. Tell me what you think. I made the necklace and earrings myself

Not sure about the necklace over the buttondown. You could pop a funky blazer on top, perhaps a cropped one? or you could tuck the top into a patterned pencil skirt, wear it with patterned pants or colored jeans. Also you could wear it with white skinnies and flats or white wide leg jeans and heels.

I love classic with a artsy addition - I think that is the style I am leaning towards myself since boho clothing isn't quite right for me. I will have to start watching Bones for inspirations!

Love your necklace - it has a lot of earth tones and pretty shades. Very nice work! the concept works really well for me. I never wear collared shirts with necklace over in that way but it shows off the necklace to an advantage.

I really like the necklace over buttondown and do this sometimes myself with necklaces that are otherwise too long. I used to watch more Bones at the beginning but then got sidetracked with other shows - but it is a really fun show!

I love the shirt Victoria, and don't think it's boring at all! Nice colour! It's crisp, clean, classic simplicity at it's best. And looks best worn that way to my eye.

So leave off the necklace (doesn't quite work over the button down) and dangly earrings. Wear it over your cute black cropped pants with sandals. Add your cuff and ring. Leave off the cardigan and add a cropped jacket if you need the extra layer.

Wear the jewelry with a layering tee (and cardigan), or a sweet little dress.

Ooh, I love Bones! She always seems to have amazing trenchcoats too... (and by the way, don't you think that our own Janet is a dead ringer for Emily Deschanel?)

I think you have a good start here - I would go for a more structured topper instead of the cardi - like a shrunken blazer maybe. I wonder if the effect would be more dramatic as well with a larger necklace, like more of a bib style.
