WIW: Trench Style Topper. ETA: Angie, shorten the coat?

I bought this trench but it's really more like a topper in my mind. I had Nordstrom remove belt. I'm a lover of long toppers.

I had a business lunch today so I wore this with black ponte pants, gauzy white tank, ombre blue scarf, and chelsea boots. I'm thinking this long topper might have a 70's glam vibe based on some of Suz's and Angie's images? What do you think? I'm not a student of fashion history but this felt pretty good.

Really nice. What's the fabric? And is it lined like an actual outdoor piece? Reason i ask is I just bought a pale pink (!) unlined trench style piece that isn't belted either. I kind of bought it without thinking too much about how and where I'd actually wear it - I mean, the colour was just ME and I love the long loose fit. Are you planning on wearing it indoors sort of like jacketish thing? I'm worried mine is going to be a big wrinkled mess after sitting in it. Anyways - curious about yours.

I wanted it more of an indoor piece but having driven 45 minutes each way to the lunch meeting -- it was a little wrinkled.

Any thoughts on if I should shorten this topper?

I think you could get away with taking a few inches off .....it would visually lighten the look...

Hmm I think if you want to wear it primarily as an indoor-type topper a little shorter would be good (the at-the-knee length of your inspiration photo looks fab). It's also possible that the contrast of the shorter white top is making the trench look extra long. Would you ever wear it over a light column? It's very dramatic!

lisap: Yup. Want an indoor long light weight jacket. But after looking at the pictures, I thought perhaps I need to take this up a few inches.

Aida: I was thinking maybe light gray silky track pants or something more similar to the reference image would be fun. And yes, thinking indoors and it should be shortened a bit. Definitely saw this when looking at the pictures. Thank you.

I think it will look great a little shorter. I like how you wore it. Your scarf is beautiful with the topper. I have long commutes a most days. My shortest is 45 minutes and longest is 90 minutes and even 2 hours depending on weather and traffic. I usually take off my jackets, toppers, and coats in my car. I don't like the bulk while I drive, but it also reduces wrinkling. I think even the best quality material is likely to wrinkle or stretch if you crush it for 45 minutes by sitting on it while driving.

Hi AM, back from my trip and just had to weigh in on your topper. It looks great on you! How clever to have the belt removed. I bought the same one a few weeks ago and since we're the same height I'm interested in the advice to shorten. Haven't worn mine yet and appreciate the insight into wrinkling. Thanks for posting this, and I'm loving your hair in these pics!
