Work and home have been very hectic lately, but I've snapped a few pics to share.

#1: I know these pants violate all kinds of PPL laws, but I like their slouchy vibe and the buckles and zippers (on the sides at the bottom). Wore to work.

#2: Taking floral pants to the classroom! Yes, I actually wore a denim jacket and floral pants to teach :). I am that crazy.The amazing thing about these pants? They do. not. wrinkle. I wore them to the Chicago meet-up then drove home (4 hours) in them. No wrinkles. I wore them to work, and sat in meetings and class for 6 straight hours. No wrinkles. Amazing.

OMG! You are the queen of cropped pants! I'm so jealous at how GREAT they look on you. That first outfit kills me. Totally amazing. I love all your outfits, Jonesy. I feel like you have this really cool, arty vibe to your style, but you're still super polished and chic. I love it!

The first outfit is my favorite - TOTALLY the vibe I am aiming for! I think I'm too short for most cropped pants, looking at you. I absolutely love the look from head to toe! We really need an AT and a Rack here...

Thanks, everyone! I appreciate your comments. Una, the Rack is my go-to source! You know, you get free shipping both ways (most of my Rack shopping is done online).

Anna, this is the best I could do re. a detail shot (taken in my bedroom closet mirror--sorry for the mirror spots and dim lighting!). The pants are pretty roomy through the thighs and then taper down and are folded in on the outside, where buckles hold them in place. The inside seams have zippers. Why, I don't know :).

You are a PPL rebel! You have inspired me to lighten up a bit on my quest for PPL and wear what I like. I LOVE #1 and am envious of no wrinkle pants (although I am still leaving printed pants to you because you do it so well)

Frankly, my dear, you are the Goddess of Fabness! Those sandals with the cropped pants are totally out of this world! Kind of bondage-y in an oh-so-ladylike way!

MaryK, I love your bondage/ladylike comment on my outfit in #1. My SO saw the new red jacket and quipped: "Looks like Phoebe Wallingford" (she was the grand dame on All My Children for many years, and favored bright colors--he wasn't exactly being complimentary!).

Your students must be so pleased to see you each and every day - what a breath of fab freshness amongst all of the khakis and other dowdiness they must encounter in most of their other classes. Not to mention the fact that I bet your lectures ROCK.

I am so intrigued by those shoes in 4, and the pattern mixing and the silhouette are so fantastic. I love the others, as well.

I think we need to add a title to your repertoire, which is "Queen of Rack Finds". Man, I wish I lived closer than a 35 min. from the Rack, so that I could be a princess in that kingdom and learn how you do it.

ETA: I just noticed your comment to Una. New goal: peruse Rack online more often, and not just the petite section (which is pretty lame).

Thanks, Sarah! Here is the link to the shoes on yoox.com. Looks like only size 7.5 is still available, in case you happen to wear that size and are interested :). They are so comfy, lined in leather, and have a perfect heel height. I always have a hard time finding shoes to transition between boots and sandals, and these fit the bill perfectly. Love! Also, I *highly* recommend cruising the rack.com site. There are so many hidden or almost-hidden gems on there.

Outfit #4 is so cool! I love it, pattern mixing while maintaining a sleek vibe. Those shoes you are wearing areTDF as well.

As for the cropped pants, you wear them so well. Not breaking any PPL rules as far as I can see, very on trend. I keep trying this look myself, it doesn't work that well on a shorty like me!

Please say more about removing a strap from a sandal. I have to admit that's a DIY project that had NEVER occurred to me! Those sandals are so cool!

What a treat! Jonesy you look fab as ever. Yay for jacket twins! Yours is making me think I should have sized up so you can see the buttons better when it's unbuttoned I think the cropped pants work well in that outfit because the black strap on the shoes visually lengthens the amount of black. That and your legs are already super long Loving how that hemline looks with the red jacket, I need to try that combo! I dig the hi-lo hem with the floral flowy pants (hmmmm I wonder if that'll work with slouchy pleated pants too?). The structural juxtaposition between the denim jacket and pants is also awesome. FUN pattern mix in 4/5! I always admire your mix of high and low end items, very very skillful.

You are too cool for school. I don't even know what that means. Ok, down to business, I love your outfits. I especially love the printed pants with jeans jacket. And the pattern mix in the third outfit. Ok, the first one is amazing too - I love how the shape of the hem sort of inverts the shape of the top and contrasts with the upward hem of the jacket. I think PPL rules for the super long of leg are different than for the rest of us, alas. Great style as usual!

Jonesy, some gals were created to break the rules and still look like a million bucks and you are definitely one of them! I do remember those silk floral pants from Chicago and our drive back - how cool for you to wear them to teach. I bet your students love a little fashion show as a bonus to the lecture!
Love outfit 1 - PPL and all. After seeing you in person I am sure it was even better IRL.
I am glad you found the occasion to wear that cool patterned coat after its failure in Chicago due to the heat wave

Jonesy for some reason you can totally flaunt the ppl rule! Great set of outfits. You do wear the cropped length to perfection. And #4 absolutely resonates with me. Beautiful jacket and perfect pattern mixing. You look amazing.

Denise, I know I have seen you *rock* some cropped skinnies at some point! I can't remember what color, but I would swear that they came from UO, and you showed us them standing in your bedroom...beyond that, my memory deserts me!

SBM, these sandals used to look like this (below) but then I realized that I really wanted some simpler ankle straps. The middle strap didn't have a buckle or anything, so I just cut it off with some scissors, then used toenail clippers to trim the excess down to the base of the shoe (if that makes sense). You can't really even see where the straps were, since everything is black, plus the sides of my foot cover it up. I am very happy that it worked, and now it's like I have new shoes!

Wow. In addition to looking absolutely amazing, you also have shoe alteration skills? It's funny, because I was eyeing those sandals thinking that they looked familiar, but not. Now I know why. I really like your de-strapped version. Highlights the ankle strap.

These are amazing outfits. I don't know which one I love most. Oh, how I live vicariously through thy cropped pants splendour!

Love #1, what great details on those pants! I've been looking at it trying to figure out why cropped works here. I think it's because the pants are super tapered AND the black strap of the shoes makes a black line down to your ankle......I love the flowy blouse in this outfit too....love the jacket; love the whole thing!

How great that you taught in patterned silk pants! If I were in your class, I'd come to class just to see what you were wearing (although I'm sure your lectures are equally fascinating!)

Thanks, Scarlet and Isis! Yes, I think the black ankle strap certainly helps. I really love that red jacket--I've had it about 10 days and already worn it twice, which is a lot for me!

I've had a few students comment on my clothes--they are probably a bit more entertaining than my lectures, though I do try to keep things jazzy, especially when I teach my night class :).

(Can I just say how amazingly hopping this place is? You two replied yesterday, and I found this thread on page 4!)
