WIW: Topshop dress

This Topshop dress has been a struggle to size. FIrst was too small, this one is a bit big. I'm going to get the hips taken in. But otherwise, I love the color and pattern. This was the quick and lazy way to wear it - Theory blazer, Harley boots. Feedback welcome! Sorry to post and run - gotta get DS to school.

Love the dress on you. The colors are vibrant, yet the jacket adds a professional touch. Love it with the Harley boots!

It does not look too big in the picture, but the jacket does lay so nicely over that area that it would conceal it.

Thanks, Thistle - that's why I wore this particular jacket. Then it's off to the tailor to get rid of the hip wings!

It's a great dress. Thistle's right the jacket adds a nice professional touch and I like that the boots add a bit of your UWP. 'hip wings' I like that

Hip wings, eh? Maybe that's just what I need! Any chance we can see how the top fits? Weren't there shoulder pads involved?

I agree - it's impossible to tell it doesn't fit quite right with the jacket over it. I hope you get the fit issues worked out because the print and colors are great.

This is the dress - it runs 2 sizes small in my opinion.

I chopped out the shoulder pads and would probably never wear it without a topper. It is now sized up so that it is almost a shift instead of a sheath, at least once the hip wings are gone.

Will take a pic without topper which is not as IT friendly.

Love the colors and pattern and the black jacket makes them glow. The dress will be perfect after the tailor works magic on those hip wings.

Agreed--love the color and the pattern and it looks great with black. The fit is hard to tell, with the jacket and your stance, but I'm ignoring it because you obviously don't want us to be judging it right now. Off for a hip wing nip and it will be perfect. Are you leaving just a hint of the hip wings? Sometimes I feel like that is more flattering on us ITs than a skirt that really fits.

You look awesome. This is exactly the type of outfit I like to wear to work. Formal enough, bit with a bit of spunk. Makes you memorable amongst the crowd (important in my profession) without people wondering "what is she on?"

Awesome print and looks great with the jacket/dress formula! Does the hip wing thing (love that term) have to do with height, e.g., where the hip area (area of wider fabric) hits on a tall vs short person?

I like this a lot. Beautiful dress and definitely worthy of the alterations. I do like the vibrant dress with the black.

What a gorgeous print! Love the way you placed polished Theory on top, and Harley on the bottom. I suspect the fit issues are compounded by the fact that this was originally intended to fit bodycon, but it appears that refitting the side seams will do the trick nicely!
