Bijou and Sal: If I'm honest, I don't like complicated dressing. I don't really enjoy layering, for example; it feels too constricting. After my "year of the pants" in 2019, I did discover that even with high waists, the forgiveness of pleats, roomy thighs, and drapey fabrics were my friends--both for fit range and for comfort. I can wear such trousers as comfortably as stretchy joggers. But I do have to watch too much volume on the bottom. The tapered ankle is key.
Joy and Gillian: I do love bright color; I am in good stead with Angie and other YLFabbers in that regard. But Joy, I really love your description of ombre tonal dressing! I knew the focus was on top with the tomato red sweater, but I wasn't sure if the bottom was actually darker or just quieter. In any case, I prefer my bottom half to disappear, so I'll think "ombre" more often!
