I loved the blogger feature on Polien today, and had to immediately try an outfit inspired by her. Mine didn't turn out as terrific - what should be tweaked?

I wore a striped shirt under a green utility jacket, and slouchy jeans. In salute to her style, I finished off with sneakers - I love that in her outfits.

I like the tomboyish vibe, and actually like the outfit reasonably well. I don't think the pic is doing it justice.

Suggestions for improvement?

Yesterday I wore the same boyfriend jeans (I'm living in these!) with green for it's cheering and calming effects. It ended up a good choice - work was grueling

I love the first outfit! That one caught my eye as well...I think you did a great interpretation of the outfit and it looks smashing on you :). Great jeans on you, I can see why they have become a fast favorite!

i, too, love your interpretation. AND, your cutie in camo standing next to you! The only thing I noticed is that her coat sleeves are a little longer....maybe push your striped sleeves up a bit? But I'm no expert!

I think that you look nice. I also think that what amped up the style in the clothing Polien was wearing was that the bottoms were more fitted and or rolled a little higher, or that the materials for the pants were different. Take for instance the striped shirt ant the utility jacket. I think Polien was wearing leather or leather like joggers. So while the tomboy is in her outfits with some pieces being more fitted mixes the girly style with it.

Scrunch the sleeves... that's what I do with a similar striped shirt, that I do sometimes wear under shorter sleeves.

i really liked that look as well! i think you have done a great job interpreting it. she wore the stripped tee untucked, which i think created less of a dividing line, if that makes sense. maybetry that and see if you like it better.

Amiable, I liked that outfit of Paulien's too, and plan to copy it as soon as my utility jacket arrives. I think hers looks slightly different because the sleeves of her striped shirt are slightly shorter and also the front is untucked. But I like your interpretation as well. Perhaps try scrunching your sleeves a bit?

Lovely interpretation, Amy, and how fun that you already had a short-sleeved utility jacket to play around with. I was also going to suggest scrunching the sleeves of your top a bit, and perhaps also do one more roll on your jeans (adore these on you, by the way). Plus maybe pop the collar of the jacket (if it wants to stay put).

I could also see it work with a black (or blue) and white striped tee, the white will add a crisp contrast. You could also add in a lighter-coloured belt if you went that way too (white, silver, cream…).

Your son is the cutest, and I also love that green V-neck sweater on you. Sorry to hear work was so hard.
