Yesterday was a typical "run quick errands" day with plans for dinner later that evening at one of the nicer restaurants we go to --since we were celebrating my BFs birthday.

Since I knew I'd be getting all "gussied up" for dinner out later my basic errands outfit consisted of no makeup, no jewelry, graphic tee, leather moto, old bootcut jeans and sneaks.

For dinner out I decided I'd try taking another midi skirt for a spin (I do have a few and most are more body con/wiggle style with a high waist, like this one).

Its nude and red/orange striped. The color is somewhat of a tomato red leaning ever so slightly towards coral. So I decided to play on that color and paired it with a linen moto in the same shade and nude patent platform pumps.

I had another pair of nude heels I considered, my pointy toe Manolo's --but I decided I liked the high shine patent and, truth be told, the pumps I'm wearing are now "only for dinner out" shoes. The foot problems have made it so I can no longer tolerate wearing these all day but am fine in them for a couple/few hours (whereas the Manolo Blahniks have a lower heel and I can actually wear them for a whole day). So I figured I'd give these ones some "foot time" since I haven't worn them in quite awhile and I occasionally miss looking taller and leggier in the higher heels.

Added a statement necklace with the same red/coral color in the stones in it and kept the rest of the jewelry simple and paired down. Even threw on a pair of red/coral edged aviators to really give the outfit a clear color theme.

BF had a happy birthday and we enjoyed a fabulous dinner listening to live jazz (one of the reasons we enjoy this particular restaurant --the food is excellent and they have live jazz every evening).

Casual errands outfit:

  • Bottle green leather moto: Allsaints (via ebay UK)
  • Graphic t-shirt: I love this t-shirt even though it's seen better days. Not sure you can see it well in the photos but its a double image of Salvador Dali squeezing a cat's head. Done by NYC artist years ago and purchased at an artist's market/fair where he was selling his designs (I have like 6 or 7 of his designs and they are my favorites even though they're falling apart).
  • Jeans: Old and faded bootcut levi's (via Kohl's close to a decade ago)
  • Sneakers: leather low-top converse chuckie t's.

Dinner out outfit:
  • Tomato red linen moto jacket: Free people (via ebay)
  • Coral tank top: Aeropostale
  • Nude/tomato red striped midi skirt: Bebe (via ebay)
  • Nude patent leather platform pumps: Stuart Weitzman (via Zappos years ago)
  • Clutch bag: Vintage cigarette wrapper prison art (via estate buyout years ago)
  • Earrings (not really visible in photos): simple gold and diamond (via flea market)
  • Bracelet (not really visible in photos): Vintage gold snake bangle bracelet (via ebay years and years ago)
  • Ring (not visible): vintage gold snake wrap (gift from BF)
  • Statement necklace: No brand. Bought it at a little consignment boutique in Sandwich, MA last time I was back east visiting family.
  • Sunnies: Anthropologie (from the recent order I placed there last week when they were having a sale)
