WIW today with 2 questions

1. Is having the socks showing the top of the booties okay.
2. This may be a bit 2008 but I feel the lack if a pop of color. Thoughts?
Oh and I know cf IKs recent post that my hair is awful.
I am fairly sure my tummy doesn't look quite that bad IRL. I think its the angle

Anne, your tummy is not an issue at all. I love the subtle grey and white on you. Sophisticated and a bit edgy yet soft. I like it with the booties, too! I can't really see the detail in those photos so cannot advise about the socks.

Nothing 2008 going on here, looks 2014 and I think a bit of sock peeking looks intentional in this outfit, adding a touch of edge.

What's wrong with your hair? It looks way better than mine even on my best hair days. Yes I read IKs thread and feel I may be one of those where the forum is thinking … she needs a new 'do.

I think I shall invite the forum for feedback next time I post a WIW.

The socks look like part of the booties. I really like the white jacket with this. There is no tummy issue in sight.

Thanks everyone. I meant that my feeling that there should be a pop of colour was a 2008 feeling!

I really like the look of the socks with the booties. It looks edgy, like CocoLion said.

As for the lack of color, about all I can think of is to add some colored bangles or something. You could add a scarf, but that might be more predictable.

Your hair does not look bad! You should see mine...practically a matted-down mess most days. Argh!

You look really nice in this outfit, Anne! I really like the proportions. I think this outfit has that "effortless chic" look about it.

I really like this Anne. I think the booties plus sox look edgy and I love seeing that white jacket coming out to play.

Hey, you can always wave your phone around a bit for a pop of colour.

Thanks lyn and Gigi. I guess I am partly hair sensitive because I haven't had a hair cut since October, mostly wear it in a french roll which tends to break the strands, and am in the trying growing out phase.

Bangles are a good suggestion. I have a teal blingy cuff that would have worked.

Love this! I love the hint of the sock, it's edgy and cool. I think you look fab and no need for a pop of colour.

What tummy issue? If that's a tummy issue, we should all just give up! I like the outfit, especially the socks. They add an interesting touch.

Now, I know what you mean about the pop of color thing. I think a scarf or statement necklace might be 2008 or whatever, but a bright bag would have the same impact and look more modern. (I would wear this outfit exactly as you have but carry my citron bag. I love it with grey and black.)

I hate the tummy thing with selfies. No need to worry, you look fine.

I agree that your socks look like part of your bootie. I would wear just as you have them. In fact, I might do the same today (cloudy and damp out).

I don't see the need for a color pop, unless you want it for the happiness factor.

Well if that's your hair looking bad I can't wait to see it looking good. I think there is sufficient contrast between your shirt and that fab jacket to ensure a pop of colour isn't necessary.

The socks are a brilliant move... although I forget how formal and conservative your workplace is. I'd do socks and pumps if that weren't too weird for my office...

Wow, this thread kept going! Thanks everyone for contributing.
Rachy, I guess I'd call my workplace, which is in the professional services area, business casual. As in the guys wear business shirts, and suits if it is cold, but not necessarily a tie. But no jeans Mon-Thurs! Angie's business casual posts have been appropriate.
I wondered about the socks. I had worn them with my running shoes for the commute and just left them on. If the intial YLF response had been negative I would have just taken them off!
