WIW today, plus new watch

I just got back from spending a week with my mom, which meant shopping! I added several good pieces to my closet, including several dresses. I look forward to showing them to you all in WIWs over the next few weeks.

This dress is one I found at Kohls for a steal. I'm considering shortening it. What do you think? I would remove the black band, cut off some, and sew the band back on. I'd rather not have to if it isn't necessary.

I know this watch isn't everyone's cup of tea, but I love it. It has turquoise on either side of the face, along with other colored stones, with an elastic band. The other thing in the picture is my turquoise charm bracelet.

I'm clueless on the dress length issue and am interested in what others say, but I love your watch. I adore turquoise anything!

OOOh, shopping with mom--that sounds like fun! I'm excited to see your haul. This dress looks great, Brenda. I think the length looks good with the leggings--I actually like how the bottom band kind of blends in with the leggings and ties in with the neckline. It seems like at this length, you could wear it sans leggings too. The silhouette of the dress is great on you--I like how it is cut straighter rather than A-line. Very flattering.

ETA: Fab turquoise pieces too. Very much your style : )

I like the watch AND your turquoise charm bracelet.

I don't think the dress is too long but if you wear without legging, do a non-flat shoe to keep it in proportion.

I was especially excited because not only do I love all my finds, I also got really good deals. I found 5 dresses for a total of around $100. My other finds were mostly found at my fave outlet store, Van Heusen, and were priced well. The watch was the most expensive item.

It's kind of hard for me to tell about the dress length, because of the black strip blending into the black leggings. Is it hitting several inches below your knee, or right below, or...? I have a poison eye for strips of solids on the bottom hems of patterned dresses/skirts, so I would remove it, but it's not my dress :). If you like it, keep it!

The dress hits at the bottom of my knee cap. I have mixed feelings about the black strip at the bottom, though I kinda like how it balances the black at the top of the dress. It sure is comfy.

I'd say don't shorten -- it will look so nice at this length when it's too warm for a topper and leggings. You could belt and blouse as an alternative, if you like it shorter.

I like the watch and think it will fit into your wardrobe splendidly. One of the great things about YLF is the way each member finds her own unique style, and this watch definitely says "Brenda."

I think the length is ok with the dress Brenda but I think I'd prefer it without the leggings because the darkness of the leggings seem to weigh the bottom of the dress down, if that makes any sense. It is really pretty and will be lovely for spring and summer. Very pretty watch too! Sounds like you had a lot of fun shopping with Mom and a lot of success!

I think the print on that dress is super cute! I'm finding it tough to judge the length with the leggings on, but I think it looks good. Looking forward to seeing your other fab finds!

The dress looks like a wonderful find for you! I can't really judge about the length. Can you show us without leggings, too, for a comparison? And maybe without the jacket as well. (When you have time, of course.)
