WIW today: casual blazer with Boden jeans

Trying to take advantage of my fleeting blazer season! Brooks Brothers Red Fleece blazer, Boden Cavendish jeans, stompy Blundstones and old graphic sweatshirt. Also threw on matching olive scarf and toque to go out, plus Gore-Tex jacket (raining buckets all day). Angie asked me a million years ago to post a photo of these tux-stripe jeans, so here they are! I wear them often, so I'm amazed I don't seem to have posted a WIW with them. Nothing new in this outfit; everything was purchased 2016 or earlier, according to my spreadsheet.

Am I the only one on who is very picky about wearing blues with other blues? This blazer is a little tricky to wear because of the royal/cobalt trim (it really is right in between those two shades), and something about the particular warmth/saturation makes it look a little off with many of my other blues...

What a fab outfit! I’m also very picky about combining blues which is probably one of the reasons I don’t wear it much. Love that French press sweatshirt

Cute outfit! Love those jeans and I like the stripes/ tipping on the jacket a lot! I can see how it might fight with some other blues, but it's got a terrific graphic integrity.

Thanks nemosmom! Coffee has been such a key component of my life, especially since DS was born. I picked up the french press top when he was about 6 months old, a souvenir of sorts for all those sleepless nights.

Delurked, that's interesting that you're not sold on side-stripe jeans in general. I sit out a lot of jeans trends, but adopted this one early on. I got lucky that these fit so well. I used to wear them cuffed pretty much all the time, but this fall I'm enjoying them full-length since they're miraculously just wide enough to go over a boot instead of just bunching up!

Cardiff girl, yes, I'm making a big push to wear my two blazers as many times as possible before I switch over to chunky sweaters (usually happens sometime around late November/early December). Because of that, they've ended up being the outfits I'm most likely to document. My own little fall mini-challenge.

Suz, the blazer is a shining example of something I would never, ever get rid of even though it's not the most versatile piece in my closet.

I actually like the stripe on jeans, but I’m kind of particular about the shading colors light and dark, plus the width of the stripe. So, I like these particular ones better than many.

Super cute and so well put together. IKWYM about the blues. All blues are not created equal. Although I like most shades of blue, there are some that I don’t care for together. I think those striped jeans are amazing!

Love this outfit on you and that blazer and jeans work so well together. I do hear you on some jackets being harder to style than others, I have the same issue with a number of my jackets. This is a great outfit and one that I would definitely repeat.

It is great to see the Cavendish jeans IRL as I just ordered the jeans in washed black with tuxedo stripe. I share your concerns about mixing blues. Though blacks can sometimes be tricky I'm hoping that will not be the case with this hue.

I love this! A good casual outfit with a blazer has been on my mind (ie my post from today!). The tipping on the jacket with the stripe on the jeans is really fun. And I think I need that tee. I start every day with our coffee press!

Great outfit. I agree on the blue view, recently feeling that the blue of my blue jeans is even too much color some days. Just not neutral enough unless I’m wearing gray, black or navy tops. I find I’d prefer black or gray jeans more often.

Great outfit and I love the sweatshirt! Yes, I am very picky about wearing certain shades of blue with blue jeans. I just was trying to figure out why I never wear a couple sweaters that I have in turquoise and peacock (which are some of my favorite colors) and finally realized that it's because I'm wearing blue jeans a lot these days. I only wear those colors on top if I'm wearing black bottoms.

Angie, these are a US2/UK6, so true to size or a bit large. I'm in between a 2 and a 4 with Boden. I ordered both the 4 and the 2 when I purchased these, and with the slight stretch in the denim the 4's felt like they were going to slide right off. The 2's are perfect.

May I ask the width at hem and calf (18” down from crotch) for the jeans? That they fit over your boots and are straight gives me a tiny hope I might be able to wear them.

Karen: 18" down the inseam, they're 7" across, so about 14" circumference. Which sounds about right, I have a 14" calf and they stretch just enough. The leg opening is about 6.5" across, so they taper just a little bit.
