WIW today and last week

We spent the weekend in upstate NY meeting with extended family from Canada. Were pleasantly surprised to come back to the weather that can be loosely qualified as spring!! The downside is that with all the unpacking yesterday, my outfit for today (photo 2) was not really thought through - - hence tired looking denim. I added a jacket to dress it up a bit, not sure it was successful. Photo 1 is what I wore last week (still in winter :)).

I think the jacket makes outfit #2 look very smart and pulled together. It doesn't look tired to me. #1 is nice with the long coat.

Fun pants in #1! Looks great with the long coat and booties. The jacket in #2 is sharp. Have you tried that look with skinnies and tall boots for a more literal equestrian vibe?

Love the pants in #1! Fabulous proportions created with the long coat. I also really like the roll neck top in #2 with the tailored jacket. Aida makes a great point to try knee high boots too.

Aida - you are absolutely right that this jacket is asking for equestrian look and I do wear it with skinnies and tall boots sometimes. Will try posting an WIW once I do again.
It's funny that my (super-conservative) self always considered pants in #1 not office appropriate (mind you, my office is *very* casual), but I got over it and always receive compliments on them!

Love #1, looks modern and polished. The jacket from #2 would look great with some high waisted denim, maybe a black pair.

CocoLion, AM - thanks for your comments. Another idea I had was to pair the jacket with white skinnies, but need to wait for all this snow to melt..

Love the first outfit with the purple pants. The jacket in the second one fits beautifully and I like the styling ideas above. Great orange bag too!

Gorgeous patterned pants -- such fun for winter! I like the look in #2 a lot. CocoLion is right -- you could refresh the denim by choosing high waisted flares or wide legs, but I think it has a cool 70's sensibility as is -- kind of like Kate Jackson in Charlie's Angels (um. yeah. I remember that).
