WIW to the optometrist

I think it is time to get a progressive lens for reading and computer work so I am off to the optometrist. I wore the slim pants with the fly london shoes. Comfort is the key today. So much for my neutral tailored a la Claire look. LOL

Nice "bluesy" casual outfit. Colors are lovely. And I am all for comfort when it comes to appointments.

What? I love this! It's a great tonal outfit. And your shoes are so fly!

PS I got my first progressive lenses this year and I find them annoying for computer work, unless it's just something quick (you have to keep moving your head around to keep the sweet spot over what you're reading) I keep a pair of 99 cent readers by my laptop at all times. They are great when I'm out and about, and for a smaller screen, like my phone. Strictly my opinion. YMMV.

Coming back to apologize for raining on your parade re. the progressives. I'm so sorry dianthus. That wasn't very kind of me. Maybe I was just trying to save you the money!

I wonder if other people have trained themselves to use them with a computer and maybe I need to force myself to wear mine through an adjustment phase. Anyway, good luck!

It can take time for eyes to adjust to the progressive lenses, but I'm ok with mine. The only real problem comes when trying to go down a flight of stairs like stadium seating in a theater. Those lenses made it hard to judge where to put your foot, at least in my experience.

Interesting...my progressives work best for the computer! But they did ask me about it when I was getting my lenses. I mean he specifically said did I use a computer a lot. So there may be more "computer worthy" real estate? Hmmm.

I hope your experience is a good one, Dianthus.

As for your outfit, the colours are so pretty on you! But did you notice that the photo is a wee bit blurry. Very appropriate given your destination....

4 years ago I couldn't stand my bifocals, and ended up going back to an old pair of glasses. 2 years ago I got 2 sets of glasses: 1- for computer use only ( which I leave at work) and 1- that worked for far distance, driving, etc.

2 months ago I got progressives with glasses that had a deeper lens for a greater range of gradation (and fab frames-thank you Angie and Fabbers). I LOVE my progressives, but I still use my computer glasses at work!

Thanks everyone. My vision has changed little since my last check-up. At that time, they suggested an office lens which has a weaker section for computer and the lower area for reading. I tried it and instead used my old readers for the computer and newer ones for reading. I might stick with that. I found that like Claire, they were a bit of a pain to get used to and I preferred to switch. I might do that again. I also have a very small face so the larger lenses don't work for me.

Yeah I was at the eye doctor too today, and my eyes are still getting worse every year

What a lovely shade of blue!
As for progressives, for about a week I couldn't see well with them and I couldn't see well without them. We have since made peace. I was also asked about use of a computer and I believe they adjusted the depth of the bifocal part of the lens accordingly.

Well I hope you get some fab new glasses that you love! I went from hardly needing glasses at all (just readers) to progressives and I think I just need to wear them a little more each day instead of going days on end just using the readers around the house. I made myself wear them at the computer yesterday after you started this thread, and they weren't as bad as I remember. So, in a way, you have helped me out here dianthus. Thank you!
