WIW to take my oldest daughter to middle school orientation

My first WIW post (yes I am nervous about the comments). My oldest starts middle school next week so I wanted to dress like a stylish MOTG. The first picture includes my youngest and oldest daughters. Still trying to figure out how to tie a scarf so it does not overwhelm me. Any comments appreciated.

James Perse ballet top (sized up to a 3 so it is looser)

Great first WIW. You and your girls are all so cute. The blue/white looks really good on you and the slim jeans are working.

Not sure about the scarf tying. I usually try to go for a really light silk chiffon for summer so there isn't much weight to it.

You look so fresh and pretty in blue and white! There are lots of different ways to tie scarves - see ClearlyClaire's posts for one way where if you took the right side (your left) and tucked it over and through, it might contain the ends a bit. Angie loves her "Angie knot"

What a beautiful family! LOVELY T, and the slim jeans are great on your running-slim bod! I am quite useless about the scarf, but there are some tying tutorials online if you google. Or I hope someone in the know will link you to them. Someone DID link me, ages ago, but of course I lost the link!

The three of you look great ^^ I would suggest making the loop part of your scarf bigger so the whole thing is more dramatic if you're going to wear it this way. And perhaps adding a silver or gold cuff?

A shot of color near the face is a great way to take a polished casual outfit up a notch. I love the color, and your top and jeans are classic and well chosen. I'd suggest twisting the scarf loosely before you tie it -- It'll reign in the volume just a bit!

Thanks everyone! I watched the scarf tutorial and was amazed at the multitude of ways you ca tie a scarf. Who knew? I watched Angie's video and will give that one a try as well. I will take all your advice and apply it. I will try tying the scarf, ask my DD to snap some photos and post the results.

It took me a while to have the courage to post and I am glad I did. Thanks for the positive feedback.

You look great (and so do those adorable girls of yours!). Love that blue scarf - such a pretty color! And it's tough to go wrong with a white top and denim (says the girl who wore that combo today, so I'm probably biased!). You have a bunch of great resources for scarf tying but here are two more:
