Today a friend of ours treated us to brunch and an IMAX showing of my favorite concert film, by one of my favorite bands of all time, “Stop Making Sense” with the Talking Heads. It’s just as brilliant in 2023 as it was in 1984!

I actually thought to take a photo when we got home. It’s a cool and rainy day, so COH boyfriend jeans and black stompy Frye combat boots for dodging puddles felt right. I decided to pay a tribute to huge jacket David Byrne with my (not quite so) oversized marble-print blazer. I wore a simple slate blue tee and black belt to finish off. Silver hoop earrings and ring.

Feels so good to dress for fall again! I’m done with shorts and sandals for the next 7 months at least!

Fabulous! I love that blazer and does indeed nod to DB's enormous gray one :). I can't wait to see the movie (it's opening here next week). I love the Talking Heads but have never seen it, so I'm very excited. Inspired by you and DB, I will have to wear the biggest jacket I have when I go to the theater. Fall is almost here, but it's not quite boots weather yet.

Thanks, everybody! This is a very *me* outfit. One outfit formula that I really enjoy is a supporting cast or basics — easy jeans, tee, boots, and a statement jacket. Rarely ever fails for me!

Brooklyn, thanks for the comment on my hair. I had to miss my most recently scheduled hair appointment so I took the razor to it — with care — just to thin out the top layers a bit and shape the bangs a little. It gets heavy on top as it grows out. I do however like the length at the bottom and want to keep growing the overall length out a bit, so maybe not such a bad thing to sit out this hair appointment.
