WIW to preschool

The boys have a sort of guided/structured play session once a week called Ready to Learn. It's only about 45 minutes long, and Mom participates. The boys love going to "school". This is one of those situations where I'm literally on the floor almost the whole time. What I'm wearing is practically a uniform for me these days. I feel like it needed something else but I'm not sure what. I'm also not sure about the shooties. BTW, I bought these shoes about 4 years ago. Guess I was ahead of the trend? I'd packed them away and forgotten about them. I ran across them last week!

Great color combo! Looks like a very practical, put-together uniform. I like the peek of skin at the ankle with the pants/bootie combo. I think I'd prefer to see either the shirt buttoned up a bit more or a lightweight open jacket in its place; half-buttoned feels neither here nor there to me, but that's just me

Fabulous and perfect outfit for the occasion! You look great, but still able to play on the floor with the kids. I love outfits like this where there is perfect balance between looking great and function.

I think you look great. I'm interested in Aida's comment because I wear shirts buttoned exactly as you did, when worn over a layer that's meant to be shown. I love your dark colors, and also love how your shirt lightens things up.

I'm always a little nervous about doing tone on tone because I'm afraid of not getting it quite right. I've done this particular combo lots of times though, so I hope it does work! LOL

For the buttoning issue: I am not totally crazy about the two or three button thing but here's why I do it. The shirt is on the big side. It's one of the things I bought just after I'd had the boys so that I would have *something* to put on my body. I have an hourglass shape so when the shirt just hangs open I feel like I look rather wide and straight. I button those couple of buttons to bring in the waist. In the past I would have belted it, but that's not terribly comfortable when crawling around and bending over a lot. If I button it up more it seems like my waist disappears again.

I'd love to do this outfit with a blazer instead, but I don't have one. It's on my to-buy list.

I don't know how you do it Jenny! You look very pulled together for a roll-around-on-the-floor play session. I'm sure the other moms are in yoga pants so you get high marks from me for wearing actual clothing. I love the different burgundy tones with the blue denim and that's a stellar scrunch on your sleeves! Your body looks like it's just snapping right back into shape. Amazing after giving birth to twins (right?)!

LOL the jeans are another issue. I've gained nearly 15 pounds in the last 3 or 4 months (a bit of a mystery), so I literally have only two pairs of jeans I can wear. These are stretch skinnies I bought at TJ Maxx about 4 years ago, and yes they bag terribly. The other pair of jeans I have are NYDJ stretch "skinnies" but they are more like straight legs. And they bag too. And I feel like they are a bit too short. Jeans are high on my list of gotta-buy-soon.

I put some extra effort into today's outfit for running errands. I think I did better today but I'm wearing the NYDJ jeans, so it's not going to get a killer by any means.
