WIW: to pop or not to pop?

Hi, ladies:

It's been ages since I posted an outfit, but luckily the semester is *almost* over. This is an outfit I wore last week, and I remain on the fence about what to do with the collar on my facket. It's a new moto jacket made of a double knit cloth from Ann Taylor. My first inclination was to wear it with the collar popped up (which makes it more moto looking) but my husband was strongly in favor of the collar worn down (which makes it look a little more office-y). I ended up wearing it with the collar up, but I'd love to know what you think!

I agree with your husband. I think that collar ( the "winged" part up front ) is too voluminous to try to pop the back piece, if that makes sense.

However, in the end, if you like it up, it is completely acceptable looking ! ( great jacket, btw. )

I like it down, but I'm not a bit "popped collar" person to begin with, so take that with a grain of salt. I do have to say you are giving my short hair fantasies. So pretty and feminine!

I really like it both ways but would probably wear it popped for a more casual outfit and down for work. Why limit it to one way.

Isabel -- I agree, it can be quite voluminous! I have to make sure that everything else about my outfit is streamlined.

JennyAnne -- Mr. M is also not a popped collar fan, so I think he shares your assessment. And thanks for the hair compliment:)

Dianthus and Meredith -- I think you're right, it's fun to experiment with. Meredith, I did scrunch the sleeves for part of the day, and I liked the look.

Angie -- Thanks for the reassurance! I was reasonably sure it was supposed to be popped, but I feel more confident after having everyone weigh in.

What do men know about fashion! Collar up!

(However, I think when the collar is down it shows just a little more of your lovely face and neck, that could be why he prefers it down.)

It's a lovely jacket whether the collar is up or not. With your cute short haircut, a popped collar totally works.

Thanks, everyone! Looks like popped is the definite winner by a wide margin. And Krishnidoux, I'm glad you liked the color -- I had a momentary twinge of panic when it arrived that it might be the dreaded soul-sucking beige. But it doesn't seem to wash me out and I'm glad you thought it worked.

Boys are so silly. This collar is begging to be popped. Look how it frames your lovely face! This jacket is a 10 -- my head is spinning thinking about all the ways you will be able to wear it.

Love #1/2 with the pop! Totally fab! FWIW, my hubs always prefers the *no-pop*, but when he's not looking I pop, and he doesn't seem to notice haha!
