WIW: to church for Good Friday

I had a bloaty day, so went for a stretchy dress. The neckline was a little low, but I didn't have a suitable cami, so button the cardi at the top to hide it. Added the red necklace as I don't like too much unadulterated grey and black near my face. I was singing at church, and sat for some of the service facing the congregation, and felt the dress a little short for that, though fine otherwise.
Any comments or criticism welcome.

What pretty and fashionable daughters you have! I like the cardi with the dress, it's a style I wear often, especially if the dress is cut a little low.

if you weren't wearing any, it might be an option with a shorter dress like this for feeling less 'exposed' ?

I SO understand what you mean about sitting facing the congregation. There are times I'm seated at the keyboard playing melody, singing harmony and chasing the pedal, which is invariably scooting across the floor, while keeping my knees planted firmly together.

The color palette was a perfect choice for Good Friday, subdued but not overly somber. The cardi is a great way to manage the neckline, and the necklace gives a little "pop." As my Dad always says......it's Friday, but Sunday's Comin'!

Manavaleeta - The cardi is actually grey, but it might not show that way on your monitor.

Lyn D - I actually wear nude hose regularly, for warmth in the A/C (and because I haven't found any nude patterned ones for ages). But it was the knee exposure that was the problem here, which I would have still been uncomfortable with. It is because the 2 side layered panels fall away. It isn't a big deal - just a bit fiddly.

Beth Ann - What a juggling act!! I only had to worry about my knees when I wasn't singing (cos then I was standing!) I am planning on wearing my coral dress on Sunday as a joyful colour.

Angie - I wasn't happy with DD7's choice of clothing but I agree she doess look rather hippy chic!! She wore this to church, barefoot and all because the only fitting pair of shoes we could locate were sopping wet. We are currently in the middle of the wardrobe sort/lookbook I talked about on the thread mentioned above. Of course it is clear shoe shopping with her is on the agenda (yet again).

And this was a bloaty day? Are you kidding? I've never seen you so slim and trim! I can't see the neckline of your dress, so I guess the cardi did it's job! I get weird about my skirts hiking up in church meetings too. Where are the pentecostal holiness modesty blankets, lol?

I used to sit at a baby grand piano up on the platform and I was sure the first few rows could see right up my skirt if I didn't have it tucked firmly around my legs and have my knees clamped together.

I agree with Claire - you are looking slim and elegant here! I like this outfit and the cardigan definitely dealt with the low neckline. I also like the addition of the necklace.
