What a year it's been!

Just wanted to hop on and post an update, as I often do after being MIA for a while...

The best news is that my fiancée and I adopted a dog last Saturday! Say hello to Adora the five year old, probably German Shepherd mix. She's extremely smart, and we're having a blast training her. Such a cuddle bug, too. At the shelter, they said it may take her up to three weeks to feel comfortable with us because she's slow to warm up to people... Day one, she was cuddling with us on the couch. We're smitten and absolutely love being dog moms.

Regarding personal style, I've been finding I can't be bothered to get "properly" dressed most days because I work from home and mostly stay home. We moved to a more urban area and have access to grocery delivery services we've been enjoying immensely. Most of the time, I'm at my desk or doing something around the apartment. We treated ourselves to smart watches that we're using to inspire us to exercise more, and it's been nice having an actual visible, quantifiable measure of how successful I am at it. We opted for Fossil watches with Google's Wear OS to sync with our Google Pixel phones. Mine is a simple black style, and fiancée's is a lovely rose gold.

I decided to treat myself to FIVE new pairs of leggings because they're extremely comfortable for working at a desk all day, and they're a fun way to add some pattern to my lower half. Today I wore a black and off-white plaid pair with my snakeskin pattern booties from last fall and we took Adora to the local pet store to get some more dog food (and a few other things). It felt nice to feel a little more put together than normal without sacrificing comfort. Even the booties are comfy, with their low block heel and wonderful padding. I was already pretty particular about comfort, and I expect my post-pandemic self will be eager to keep wearing comfortable clothes they can dress up when needed.

Finally, I got rainbow hair at the end of the summer! My stylist had been wanting to do it on someone for years and I was the first to agree to it. I'm lucky that I don't have to be on camera for work most of the time, if at all, and they don't much care what I look like. I haven't gotten it touched up, so it's very grown out at this point, but I figured if I was going to have my first haircut I'm four months, I ought to make it good!

Thinking ahead about style goals for 2021, here's what I've got rolling around in my head, and I'll formalize them sometime soon:

- Reduce my wardrobe size - it's getting to feel like too much. But I want to be super careful about it because 1) pandemic, and 2) last time I did major cuts I gave myself holes. Not this time.

- Have more fun with neutrals, and expand my neutral horizons. I've been really enjoying adding olive green and treating it like a neutral the last few years, and I hope to continue. I've also started playing with brown for the first time in... maybe 15 years?

- Like I said above, more comfort, in every way possible. I'm switching to sports bras. I'm only wearing comfy shoes I like to walk in. Functionality is important to me, too, but sometimes you also need to treat yourself to a silver sequin tank top so you can be a disco ball.

- More fun in general. Less worrying about having a cohesive look. I went too far with it on my previous leg, and now I need to find a haply medium. Eclecticism is my absolute jam.

I hope all of you have been staying safe and healthy, and warm if you live somewhere cold. It snowed on November 30th here in Atlanta, and it was BIZARRE...
