WIW to beat the heat . - YouLookFab Forum

Today is hot, humid and will require the lightest of layers. I chose this dress to give me a good chance of staying comfortable. The morning required several errands. This afternoon, I am meeting up with my twin for a bit to eat and a stroll through one of our little towns, with possibly a quick beach combing expedition in search of some sea glass. If we get to the beach I will change into flip flops and add a wide brimmed hat.
Thoughts on the outfit? Does it remind you of a nightgown? I think it looks much better with my denim jacket, but I can’t make myself put that on today. Somehow I think it needs something more.

It does not remind me of a nightgown! The crisp geometric print, arm party, and metallic shoes all put this outfit squarely in the "hot weather polished" category for me. Enjoy your twin time! I am super jealous of your beachcombing expedition.

Joy and SarahD, thank you for the kind thoughts. We spent a lot of time poking around town and visiting some of the boutiques, then we decided to treat ourselves to a glass of wine and some popovers, while admiring the harbor view. We are saving the beach combing for another day. We are serious about our beach combing and need more time than we had this afternoon. We had the most wonderful time, though!

Some of my nightgowns look better then my summerdresses. And are sold as night/lounge/beach dress. I never wear them at the beach though, feels weird.

Thank you, all! When my fashion forward sister saw the dress, she gave it high praise. In our stroll through town we stopped at the store where I purchased the dress. Many items beckoned us, but it was far too hot and sticky to try on any clothing. There were a few items that interested my sister, so we will go back. Luckily, she will be in my area until August 4th! More Twin Time ahead!

Sara L, I have been wearing dresses much more often this summer. Once the heat and humidity began, I have been much more comfortable in dresses and I have plenty of sleeveless ones. If I wear shorts it is almost always because I am keeping up with my grandson and will be doing a lot of bending over, picking up, floor sitting, etc.

More? You must be joking! How can you improve on perfection?! This is my idea of a perfect hot-weather outfit. The pattern and neckline trim give interest, the colours look cool (and suit you well) and the bracelets are a bit of fun and shine!

Fashintern, thank you. I think the flowy fabric is why I was concerned about the nite gown effect. I love that it does not cling anywhere. It touches on the shoulders and nowhere else.
Hahaha Suz....not sure about perfection, but the outfit really did keep me comfortable on one of our hottest days, when I was nowhere near an air conditioner. With my lighter hair I am finding that I can wear lighter shades of blue and that makes me happy.
Thank you Rachylou. The dress did the job! I have several sleeveless dresses and had placed them on my “do not even think about buying” list. I already caved and bought one new sleeveless dress this summer. I confess that if I find another like this one I will probably buy it.
