WIW to a picnic on Flag Day - YouLookFab Forum

The university that my mom teaches at had a barbecue and picnic today for staff families. I knew that nice casual was preferable, comfort would be excellent, and as a picnic in Florida in June, it would be hot and humid, so light and breezy was a necessity. When I realized that this dress fit each requirement, I chose it. Then I remembered (thanks, Facebook friends!) that it was Flag Day, and I had two of the USA flag's three colors. (Had it been the Fourth of July, I would've worn red shoes, too. Yes, I am one of those people. LOL. Actually, I realized my need for casual yellow or red sandals, as either would've gone nicely with this dress.)

Wedges: Kelly & Katie (DSW)
Earrings: LC Lauren Conrad (Kohl's)

I initially had a necklace on, but it was too annoying while outside in the heat. Oh, and this dress is still at Old Navy, and it's on sale! Just thought I'd mention it in case anyone else could use a comfy, cute, light dress for summer. =o)

FABULOUS rendition of patriotic-slanted retro chic! You look lovely. Love how you let the gingham and the tailoring stand on there on, direct and uncomplicated by frills and accessories, even keeping the shoes nude (or close).

@Alicat - I actually have a red dress with white polka dots that I have worn the past two Fourths... with navy blue heels. I'm not really much of a themed dresser, but I can't bring myself not to wear that outfit! It's too cute! And everyone either likes the outfit or gets amused that I actually wore red, white and blue, so it's fun. =o)

@ManidipaM - Thanks! I would've worn more jewelry if I wasn't planning on spending the afternoon outside, but it was nice and breezy without it!

@TransconaShannon - It really did work out well, even for sitting on the ground to eat. It was long enough I didn't have to show the world anything! LOL.

@citygirldc - I really like those shoes! I got them for an amazing price too, thanks to a sale, two coupons, and a gift card. They were like $1.87 or something after all that! Crazy!

@Kristin - You should! They also have it in yellow (but that was too see-through for me) and an orange-red. That one I would like to try, although I'm a cool skintone so I don't know if it would work. But it's *such* a comfy dress!
