This was originally titled "what I wore to a barn wedding, and am posting even though I realize it didn't turn out the way I'd hoped" but apparently that was too long. Went to a barn wedding, in a field, with severe thunderstorms, and a suggested dress code on their Knot page that said "casual," "semiformal," "whatever you feel comfortable in," and "formal." We were all texting each other the day before saying "what are YOU wearing?" I wore a JJill knit skirt, an LL Bean lace tee from last summer, and flat silver Aerosoles that look like Toms. What worked: the colors. I always feel like myself in blues. The skirt was great and I wish I'd gotten it in another print when it was still around. What didn't: The shirt, which appears to magnify my large chest and short waist and heavy arms, even with my most supportive bra. I originally intended to wear a white tank and a navy cardigan, but the temps started in the 90s (but dropped after the thunderstorms hit at the beginning of the outdoor ceremony). We all had to "grab a chair and head for the barn" as the father of the groom told us a minute before the storm hit and everyone was drenched. The party barn didn't have a bathroom with a mirror so all the ladies did our best to arrange our wet hair, as you can see.
I don't look the way I'd like to, but I'm trying, and I've made a lot of progress in the past couple years. I appreciate seeing people post WIWs who don't have model-builds, so I'm going to try to post more of mine.
