WIW: out of my comfort zone - YouLookFab Forum

So after Janet and Lisa’s posts about stepping out of their comfort zones, I had to share this.

I’ve been looking for a well fitting, Luxe cashmere sweater for a while. I happened upon this one and it fit the bill - 2 ply cashmere, intarsia with embroidery detail. Only it’s a huge tiger. Which for some reason I adored.

I could see this being worn with my fancier brocade holiday skirts or my more traditional pencil skirts to give them some edge, or with my leather pants or skirt, or as worn here with grey pants to keep it simple.

Plus it is warm and comfy while being edgy.

What do you think? Good or too much?

Great sweater! I felt like it needs to be a star of the outfit - so stripe on the pants distracted me for a bit. Maybe classic/solid colored pieces will set that sweater even better? More picks, please!

What a gorgeous sweater, and the execution of the pattern is clever and indicative of a well made - high end garment. Interestingly, for all it’s excitement, it doesn’t distract from YOU! I think it is a perfect garment-to-owner pairing. I think you need to do an outfit lab to find the very best combinations. I’m not sure, but could the sweater work with your mauve snakeskin print bottoms?

I also have to echo those who point out what a stunning complement to your colouring you have with the theory suit.

I think it's a great sweater on you, and am curious why Angie doesn't think it works with the pants......I think it does! Lovely coat too - so elegant.

And WHY do finds never take one back to the actual item on the CM website? I can never seem to find these things.....

Those pants work perfectly with the tiger sweater, to my eye. The pants are simple but graphically interesting and stylish. I say you are killing it in both outfits!

Aren't I being fussy! Dear Roxanna, FWIW, this combination of pullover and pants does not look sharp or crisp to my eye. Double slouch and not enough tailoring. May I suggest a pair of tailored dark bootcut jeans like Janet and Anchie. Or bootcut pants. That said, if YOU feel fab in the combination - wear it! Despite my perceptions, I'm always on the side of the wearer

The color of the suit is gorgeous - I like the look of the fabric also. The tiger is so perfect. It blends right in with the autumn leaves. Thought provoking point about wearing it with these trousers vs. something more tailored. I think you look good but it would be interesting to see how you feel if you compared. Finally love the belt over coat look - something that I can enjoy vicariously on you!

Yes, this tiger sweater is amazing on you. I think it has an 80’s vibe, especially with the slouchy pants, but that’s just me; I have less of a bias towards crispness than Angie does so YMMV.

Angie - good point. As you know I am very particular about tailoring and structure so I will wear with a more tailored bottom next time. Also good to know the pants seem slouchy; not a bad thing but it just means I need tailored up top.

Anchie - I had a dragon sweater in middle school - so I think I love this because it reminds me of the 80s/early 90s

I LOVE the tiger and think it is a fun and beautiful sweater. The colours are just so pretty and in keeping with your warm and cool tones. I really like the idea of putting this sweater with a brocade skirt. Personally I really like sweaters like this and bought the JCrew leopard heart sweater which I wear with a red leopard slip dress for a very 90's vibe.

EXACTLY, Roxanna. The only reason I mentioned it is because you like a crisp, sharp, polished and tailored visual effect. It's your style goal! It would not have mattered - hence I would not have mentioned it - to other forum members who do not share the same style goals.

I could have taken the easy way out and just said you look fab! Which of course - you always do. The devil is in the details and I try to attend to individual Fabber needs as best as I can. Thanks for getting that
