WIW: Tiger Tee with a twist - YouLookFab Forum

I was helping a friend pack her house today, so I needed something casual and easy for moving boxes and getting a little dirty. I thought this thrifted Amisu tee was a good choice with my Calvin Klein BF jeans. I went with some old and probably too worn ballet flats for comfort and ease of kicking off as needed. The brown belt was basically just to keep the pants up! All in all, it felt easy and good, but there is a twist to the tee that made me kind of giggle. I'm kind of curious what you all think. The tiger's face is embroidered and every so often, there are little cut outs... Some of them in some rather interesting places! I chose a nude colored bra so that the beige peek through matched my skin tone that showed through on my belly/torso area. I figured that it was all pretty subtle, but my son immediately walked up to me and stuck his finger through a hole. So maybe it was not as subtle as I hoped! In hind sight, I wonder if a black bra would have been a better choice. I would really rather not wear a cami for the sake of staying cool. What's the consensus? Indecent? Funny? Weird? Bra color? Pic 2 is a close up of the top on me, and pic 3 is flat on the sofa to see the placement of some of the holes. Pic 4 is just last night's gorgeous sunset... Just because. I really am curious what your thoughts are so that I get an idea of what to do next time...

I would probably have gone with nude too since the print is a dark nude/taupe color. I think the outfit works for you Sarah and you look much better than most people would for packing. I really like your haircut too.

I think that shirt is really cute - and that its fine with the nude bra underneath - considering that your day's activities were super casual. In fact, I actually think it would be fine like that pretty much anywhere you wore it! As long as your son doesn't keep sticking his fingers in the holes! Have you tried it with a black bra? And if so, what did you think?

Thank you both! Marley, I haven't tried a black bra yet. I was in a hurry this morning so I didn't take the time, but I am curious enough to try it... I do feel a little better hearing that you two thought it worked this way. My friend didn't mention it, and she probably would have said something had she noticed. She is pretty plain spoken. She only expressed surprise that I was wearing jeans and tee. And that she could smell the hair product that I lightly used yesterday morning. She is very chemically sensitive, so that resulted in me washing my hair and rinsing it in vinegar just so that I could stay at her house. Then I needed to run an errand with my unstyled hair. It was a rather odd day all around for me! I suppose the holes in the top were the least of my worries!

The tee reminds me of a constellation: how neat! With the beige bra, the cutouts look like part of the pattern, so I think you're good.

You look terrific! I doubt the holes are noticeable to anyone (but your son!) but I would try a black bra and see how I felt more comfortable.

I wouldnt have even noticed the cut outs had you not pointed them out; just thought the beige was part of the shirt. Id be interested to see how it looks with a black bra. You are such a gracious and understanding friend to us with sensitivities <3

I absolutely love the outfit, and I think it is hilarious that your son poked his finger through the holes! I wouldn't have noticed them without the accompanying words (I thought you were just showing the detail) so there you go.

Thanks guys! I have to admit, I kind of enjoyed my little secret of the tiger today. And I will try out the black bra next time to see and report back.

Tanya: thank you! I found the top at Plato's Closet (second hand shop geared towards a much younger crowd than me). I enjoy looking there because I sometimes find a jewel in the midst of the chaos and skin tight shiny stuff - and it's usually for a few bucks. It is the same place I found my cool convertible Hawaiian sandals.

I think that part of the appeal of the shirt is the contrast between the fabric and your skin, and you would lose that with a black bra. I really like this and I really like that it is demure, but hints at sexy with the little cut-outs. Similar to the mesh tops that Angie featured on her blog recently. You look way too stylish to be moving boxes!

OK, back to the outfit :D. I think the nude bra works fine. I wouldn't have noticed it too if you hadn't mentioned. And kids ... Omg! They always ... Never ever fail to embarass us mums! Lol! You look lovely for a manual job day! I would probably have been in my sweats o_O

Love your outfit, and the tee with a nude bra. Woud look qually good with a black bra or/and a nude/black cami underneat, for not be embarrased by those fingers, haha!:-))

I think the holes are very subtle with the nude bra, a black bra may divide the pattern bringing more attention to the cut outs.

How supportive to help your friend move and to wash your hair to relieve her sensitivities

I agree with Sharon -- I think you would lose something with a black bra. The contrast is what makes the design sing. I think the cutouts are so small that it is, to me, in no way indecent -- but kids are funny and so often do or say the exact thing we fear!!!! I love the tee as you wore it. Really beautiful and fun.

That's a cool tee! I like it with the nude and my guess is that black would not work bc it would just obscure the part of the pattern over the bra. If you really feel too "naked" (not that I think you should) maybe a colored cami underneath would also work.
