Wow, what a lovely load of compliments to start my day, ladies! Thanks --- today is definitely going to go better than yesterday.
Julie, I am floored! And humbled.
Sona! Lovely to see *you* this am! Hope you're feeling better?
Helen and Aida, lol --- it actually IS quite seriously better than the week before. A week of rains got the temperature down from the 100s at least. I almost don't mind the lack of AC so much.
JR --- you can BET I don't wear a maxi skirt around the house in this weather! Or a jacket. Air-conditioning or no air-conditioning. But alas, in the office, where the air-conditioning is on some sort of permanent overdrive, I freeze unless my legs and arms and shoulders are well enclosed By the way, is the cool scarf the same trick as putting a scarf in the freezer? I do that a lot too!
Scarlet --- you're not that much of a minority! What you said about the shoes has been suggested by several ladies up top, and I intend to remember by plainer bronze flats next time
The power situation is all sorted. We couldn't figure it out at all in the morning. The mains would just keep tripping, for seemingly no reason. Even when I switched off *everything* but the fridge and the water purifier --- it still tripped. So then, coming back to a dead house in the afternoon, I thought we might start disconnecting appliances one by one, in case one of the power switches was faulty and leaking while in the off position. Guess what? The water heater did it! Apparently while 'dead', the earthing wire was active enough and problematic enough (in India, power fluctuations are the norm, as are daily power cuts) to be causing a short circuit!
