When I think of the style descriptor "Urban Warrior Princess" this outfit is the image it conjures in my mind... heavy on the edginess scale with a healthy dose of military inspired and just a bit of rocker chic. So yesterday's outfit is what I would consider to be extreme/full-on UWP.

The military-look jacket has really interesting details to it. The gray/black graduates to a taupe gray along the shoulders and back and it has pocket features and details on the arms. The collar has a fair amount of dimensionality to it because it actually has a zipper under the edge where a hood is rolled up and zipped into the collar. It's by L.A.M.B by Gwen Stefani and I stumbled across it last summer at Santa Monica flea market (interestingly enough, Stefani herself actually frequents that flea market! I wonder how she feels about seeing her stuff selling there!) It was a steal at $30 so I snagged it.

The outfit may have appeared less extreme without the knit snood --but my hair has been on the dry side lately so yesterday I did a trick I sometimes do. I doused my hair with Argan oil and slicked it back and tucked it into the snood. Then when I spent time outside in the sun having meetings the warmth of the sun actually acted like giving my hair an all day hot oil treatment (points for multi-tasking, right?)

While the jewelry is statement making in its' form and subject matter, the fact that it is all bronze and black kept it on the more subtle side of things. It doesn't really stand out unless you choose to look at the details, so as to not compete too much with the "lots going on" of the clothing itself. The bronze and diamond snake pin on the collar of the jacket is actually by one of my favorite jewelry designers, Gabriella Kiss. Her nature inspired jewelry is simply exceptional in it's detail and craftsmanship.

...and I am still loving the Lily & Lola platform peep toe sandals/boots. Most. Comfortable. Heels. Ever!

So all in all, while it's an extreme outfit bordering on the realm of costume --I enjoyed wearing it and kicked some serious butt in all of my important meetings yesterday
