Dear YLF,
Before I begin, let me just say thank you for being my happy place. To know I can come here at any time and the joys of all sorts are guaranteed is priceless.
This week has seen us transitioning from boots to sandals. Literally. It's a happy turn of events in any case, but one can feel caught a bit off-guard as it all still seems too sudden and wardrobe may seem unsuitable. On top of simply being fun, I find that the scarves are perfect way to address some of the transitional climate issues (cold mornings, hot days, cool afternoons) and I decided to dedicate this week to playing with them. And I also gave my lovely new apple green scarf a break as it's seen a lot of action the week before.
I've had a busy week running all sorts of errands related to the house build, hosting a friend, visiting my son's future school and just regular stuff, so my outfits vary a lot depending on the overall context and circumstances.
- Monday - Sightseeing on a cool day, the outfit has been built around the combination of the scarf and jacket.
- Tuesday daytime - Sightseeing again, I wore the new neckerchief scarf I bought the day before, the next item I chose was the white button-down (when stuck for ideas, this is the perfect fall-back item), followed by the jacket that was unworn for a while.
- Tuesday afternoon - Taking the kid to the playground, I tried denim on denim keeping the same scarf on, just tied differently. This outfit had been posted in separate thread, I have been surprised how much liked the whole idea of denim-on-denim and plan to try it out more in the future. ETA: How great that today's blog post is about denim on denim <3 I cheekily submit this outfit as an attempt on the formula, with the scarf standing in for the statement necklace.
- Wednesday - Long meeting with the building company to discuss the house building plans. There was no need to be too formal as we know everyone already and I also cycled to town, but I added chunky pearly beads necklace to add a bit of interest in case I needed to remove the butterfly scarf. Note to self: I knew it already, but bootleg jeans are so impractical for cycling.
- Thursday - Running errands in town, another small neckerchief tied around the neck, my mum's silk shell blouse and drapery cardigan. It's interesting how I'm totally blase about this cardigan in winter months, but the sunshine outside makes me reach for it as the color seems to come alive on sunny days.
- Friday - I had to meet the headteacher in the school my son will start from September and although I know the lady herself has casual and elegant style herself, I wanted to err on the more conservative side, so I wore black jacket over white button down, but with very casual jeans and silk scarf tied as men's tie, with pink shoes. I had to cycle to school as well, so this was comfortable, but felt pulled together for the quick appointment.
- ETA: Friday afternoon - Talk about being proactive. I have to add and run after this outfit, but we're meeting some friends after work today and I was inspired by several the blog posts from the past few week only!! (excuse the overexcitement) So, here we go: denim on denim (top and bottom), mixing metals (buttons and belt buckle), white... will add reference links later. There is of course such classic as matchy-matchy (necklace and shoes). Whether it works or not, it's leaving the building and happiness factor is 10/10. No scarves in this one, so the outfit is a blind passenger on this thread, but today's blog post says 4) Wear a bib necklace and 5) Wear girly shoes, and that's all the excuse I need to cram it in.
And that's it. Thanks for reading, I always appreciate constructive feedback and I am happy to put your suggestions in practice.
