WIW: the outfit so nice I wore it twice!

I don't usually repeat outfits two days in a row deliberately (often I do it out of sheer inertia and feel schlubby about it) but I liked this ensemble and didn't feel it really got its due worn for work at home yesterday so I put it on again for a meeting out of the house today.

Showing off some fall pattern mixing with the plaid tunic, intarsia cardi, and my grandmother's locket. I like the locket worn on this shorter chain, it feels more deliberate somehow than with the longer chain I was previously using.

Also, my "new" bag. I bought this vintage purse on Etsy a while ago intending it to be a summer bag but I'd never worn it. Every time I put it on this summer it seemed too heavy and too dressy. Then I realized it might mesh well with my fall wardrobe. Huh. Wondering if anyone else has had the experience of buying something for one season and ending up using it in a different one.

Sweet purse! If you wanted to go matchy-matchy you could add saddle shoes or brogues...

Great bag, cardigan and outfit! I understand what you mean about the bag being too heavy for summer. I have found that I have very limited tolerance for some fabrics in the summer but they are fine when it is cooler.

Great bag! I predict you might wear it more in spring as well, now that you have figured out how to wear it in autumn. Sometimes in the transitional seasons it is really nice to have a contrast like this. It kind of pulls everything together. But it may not work in high summer for the reasons Shevia mentioned.

I really like the pattern mix and the moody blue/ grey/ reds palette you have going here! No wonder you wore it twice.

La Ped, modern vintage is exactly the sort of look I'm aiming for so good to know I'm hitting the mark. I actually really want a pair of spectator oxfords. Hmmm...

shevia, I initially meant that the bag was visually too "heavy" in summer but come to think of it, it is quite stiff and structured which may be part of the issue as well. Good idea to try it in spring too, Suz. That navy-white contrast is big for me in the spring. And now that I look back at the pictures of this outfit, I think the bag would be better with an outfit with a bit of white in it.

And thank you, cjh and Joy! You are too sweet. The cardigan received compliments from both my 11-year-old daughter and a Millennial poet, so it obviously has wide appeal.
