Melodies of Christmas is an annual holiday concert performed by the Empire State Youth Orchestra and Choral. The proceeds go to the Melodies Childhood Cancer and Blood Disorder Center at Albany Medical Center. DH, my MIL and I attended last night's performance.

It's an extremely popular event (they give 4 packed performances) and the attire is holiday dressy. On our way in to the crowded theater a little girl said to me, "You look so pretty!" After pausing to thank her, I noticed what she was wearing and exclaimed, "So do you, and I just love your sparkly red dress!" Towards the end of the concert when they bring some of the children on stage for whom the proceeds benefit, I noticed the little girl in the sparkly red dress was on the stage. It made me realize that we never know whose lives we are touching by a kind word or gesture, as we often don't know what others are going through. I don't know if I brightened her day, but I sure do know she brightened mine.

Skirt, red blouse (with static cling in pic 2), red coat (5+ yrs. old and should probably be a little longer for this skirt, but oh well): JCP
Stockings: Nordstrom
Black pumps: Naturalizer (narrow width, yay!)

So no matter what you're going through, put on that sparkly red dress, get up on that stage and declare yourself a victor. Happy Holidays!
