I had been eyeing this silk blouse from Fossil since the fall, when I bought my J.Crew heart blouse and fell in love with fluid button downs for work. I had been looking for a top in ink blue. The Bear print called to me. I pounced when it was marked down on boxing day, and immediately regretted the purchase. I had just ordered a non-returnable button down blouse I had never seen in person from a brand I have never even tried on for size. I have an hourglass figure, reasonably broad shoulders and a history of trouble fitting button down blouses. I am the poster girl for gaping buttons across the chest. Whoops!
As is usual with Borderfree the blouse was slow to arrive, allowing me plenty of time to be annoyed with myself for making such an unwise purchase. I snorted with derision when I saw the box on my doorstep and girded my loins for disappointment.
I opened the box and removed the blouse from its cellophane sleeve. The colour and print were just as I had imagined. The silk was drapey, opaque and had a nice sheen. Goshdarnit, it looked like it would fit! I reminded myself not to get too attached, took a deep breath, and tried it on.
It fit perfectly.
I was darn lucky this time, but I am going to avoid taking this sort of chance in the future! I wore the bear blouse to work today with my J.Crew minnie pants and a zippered cardigan from Reitmans. For the commute, I wore slouchy leather boots and my J.Crew tipped peacoat. I swapped the boots for pointy flats at my desk. Beau stayed home today in favour of my everyday Calvin Klein hobo bag, since I didn't need to pack lunch or yoga gear.
(ETA the fossil website picture for a clearer view of the bears :D)
