It's been an unusually cold Fall/Winter so far and I've been cold for 2 months straight, which has not been helped by our heater crapping out three times between Thanksgiving and Christmas (we think it's finally fixed). Also Angie (and others) keep posting all these darling chunky knit outfits, and except for a few cardigans, I have exactly zero chunky knits in my wardrobe. But I'm also officially unemployed with the new year, and so a shopping spree is out of the question. Enter my husband, with a closet full of high-quality never worn chunky knit sweaters gifted to him over the years by his mum, aunties, and even an old girlfriend or two. So I pulled them all out a few days ago and promptly appropriated a few.
This grey "fine wool" medium weight sweater is my first try. I'm still trying to make my colored bottoms work, so I paired the maroon/burgendy pants with the grey sweater and my snakeskin Docs. One of my goals for the 2014 is buy less, make more, and since I've been wanting a lightweight scarf to go with these pants, I made the hair scarf out of 1/4 yard of chiffon. I thought it needed a simple long necklace so chose this silver leaf one with (unseen) ( and self-made) silver and garnet earrings. For outerwear, my ancient black leather jacket with handwarmers and my black leather briefcase, which is probably my favorite purchase of 2013.
This may be my favorite outfit so far with the burgundy pants. Simple, comfy, slightly boho, and yes, a bit girly and artsy fartsy.
Now for the felting question. The sweater is larger on me than comes across in the pics - plus it has a few little moth holes. If I felt it in the washer/dry will that take care of the unravelling caused by the moth holes? Also there are approximately 8 zillion felting tutorial/instructions online. Can you recommend onw that has worked for you?
If you read all that, I thank you sincerely!
