WIW: Team Slouchy Corduroy Cargo Pants (or Team Poison Eye!)

I wore this today to brunch at a diner with my son and his buddy for my son's 9th birthday. And I apologize, but I kind of like it. I like oversized baggy cargos. I'm okay iwth corduroy. And I needed to wear the clothing equivalent of comfort food today!

Please feel free to tell me if you have a poison eye for this look! I'm curious... Worn with black Frye boots.

I like it! I wish we could see it with the black Frye boots - but I understand that winter boots and indoors don't mix.

I like everything except the drawstring cuff. But if tha was tucked into a boot then I don't mind at all. Funny that this cardi felt ok, but the other felt so wrong

I like! It's different.

It suits you and I think the pants tucked into calf-high Frye's would look cool. (I'm assuming that's what you mean by black Frye boots, not tall ones.)

I'd like to see it with the boots too. I really like the pants & the top but I'm not sure about them together (but that's me so grain of salt).

I like it a lot. The difference is that the pants are cut to look this way, rather the purchased several sizes too large to achieve the slouchy look. That is what I have the poisoned eye about. It's not the style. It's the fit.

I like it, Una. Well, I mean I'd like it with the boots. What can a girl do? Maybe double up on boots for photo ops? Indoor boots and outdoor boots.....

Alicat, it's actually an Allsaints cardigan - it's asymmetrical in front and is sort of a camo-tie dye argyle, if that makes any sense. It's off-beat enough to offset my cardigan worries!

I don't know, they totally remind of the Da Nang cargo pants that were everywhere about 6-8 years ago. Don't really read as the current slouchy trend.

I like the colour mix here and I actually like the cargos minus the hem. Would you consider removing the draw string and just having a regular hem?

Shannon, that's an idea! Atlhough they are really not worth the effort - they are so casual and weekend.

Yep, Anna - I know. That was kind of the reason I posted this. Some things I'll probably continue to wear whether they meet a current trend standard or not. These are like sweatpants for going outside. I'm sure they ARE sweatpants to some people! But I like them anyway.

I bet most of us here (except maybe Angie) have outfit days we know will not pass the collective eye of YLF!

I love your outift! I think if the drawstring hem was tucked into the boots this would look great. What particularly appeals to me about this, is that it's "you". If this makes any sense, you look well put together but still naturally RATE.

I don't mind the style of these pants at all (with the boots). HowEVer, I have poison eye for cordurory - so there ya' go! That disqualifies me from commenting, doesn't it???

Una I actually put my hand over your indoor shoes when I look at your outfits. Ah, that is better. Love the sweater, don't mind the cordoroys although it would help to see them with the boots and how they lay (tucked in or out, etc.). Not that I would drag my slushy wet shoes inside either if I were you!

I've never seen pants with a drawstring at the bottom. These remind me a bit of the nylon REI pants that are probably meant for hiking but I use for exercise walking. Mine have a velcro at the hem to adjust the opening. Seriously unstylish, but they get the job done and have pockets for cell, keys, ID, tissues, etc. etc.

I can't think of a better outfit for your day's activities! I love the way the print on the sweater ties everything together.

It's not trendy, but I like it. The proportions and fit work, on your neat frame. The patterns and textures fit your RATE style for a relaxed day. On you, the lack of colour and dark muted neutrals look gritty (I'd look like baked mudpies in it :-)) and the cardi turns 'girly' inside out and back again.

I personally find drawstring cuffs on anything fiddly enough to be a dealbreaker for me; but I can imagine these would so cozy compared to the drafty ankles a lot of looser/wider-legged pants give you.

You're probably not shocked that I like it. Kind of reminds me of my commando look with my own cargo pants. Hm, I also have a pair of Miss Sixty parachute pants that I usually wear as PJs, but you kind of make me want to bust them out on the streets!
