WIW tan suede coat - YouLookFab Forum

Dear Fabbers,
In the middle of last winter while bargain hunting in designer outlets, I found a fabulous tan suede coat. The coat is in very delicate suede leather, unlined, thin and soft. It is by Escada and it was a sensational price, one piece left in my size. So I bought it and waited patiently for its time to wear it. Now, it had its premiere.

Version 1. Today, I wore it with a pair of black straight legs trousers, a black blouse and a black hobo bag. I added a cream patterned silk scarf and a pair of grey/beige hybrid sneakers/walking shoes.

Version 2. This is a trial outfit. I am wearing a pair of black boot cut jogging pants, a pair of burgundy Chelsea boots, a small brown/burgundy bag and instead of my usual scarf, I layered several gold costume jewelry necklaces.

Version 3. This is an attempt to be a bit trendy. I wear the same black boot cut jogging pants as in version 2, added a pair of fuchsia sneakers and a small fuchsia scarf.

What do you guys think? Any comments, feedback and styling suggestions are much appreciated.

Ooh, I am always so intrigued by your WIws. You have excuisite style! As for trendy, I'd say the chunky chain necklace in outfit #2 is very much trending right now! How about your version 2 with sneakers (maybe even white ones?). That would be like straight out of a fashion magazine, hot of the press!

What a great piece! I think you wear it well in all 3 outfits. I'm partial to the second look because I like how the gold necklaces echo the tan color of the suede. I love how your sneakers and scarf match each other.

What a great find. YLF. I like no 2 best because the gold lifts the black and echoes the jacket. I’d like to see no 3 with fashion sneakers - ones that don’t have a upturned toe. I associate that kind of toe with actual active wear. But that’s just my personal preference. It’s a great colour combo.

I like 2 the best as well. And I like Brooklyn's suggestion of a fashion sneaker rather than the upturned toe version . Something was not sitting right with me on that outfit and that's what it is . Mind you , I'm not a fan of fuchsia anything though, so it could be my personal view speaking there. What a lovely coat though - you and your Escada stuff

Gorgeous! I think my favorite is #2 but I may be influenced with my recent attempts to incorporate gold chains and my excitement of seeing it so beautifully executed. Beautiful, elegant coat and I very much appreciate the idea of buying and waiting to wear as some of my favorite coats only show up at the end of the season.

Brooklyn, thank you. I like no 2 best as well. I am going to wear fashion sneakers with this combo as well. I have black - the simple choice. Than I have some lighter colours too and white - not sure those will work, but will certainly try.

Oh, I love Escada... I go to great lenghts to try to find it on sales or in outlets or consinment.... Occasionally for full price too The cut of their trousers and jackets almost always works on my body type, I have tried Boss many times, for example, also German, and it usually does not work for me. Go figure

Shevia, thank you. That is very kind. I buy often off season if I see a bargain and wait to wear it later. This one I bought in January and thought it would be worn in Spring, but the weather just did not cooperate. So I wore it first now. It is not very practical, only a small window to wear such a thing before the rainstorms will start. On the other hand, I think it is a classic which I could have for many years.

Joy, thank you. Earth tones are difficult for my colouring, so I try to offset them with black or some cool jewel tones or pink. A column of black is the easiest and favourite for me.

Kate, thank you very much. The bag is from ETRO. I bought it years ago. It is actually a men’s cosmetic case, but I thought it would work like a cute handbag then. In the meantime, boxy bags became popular It is made of waxed canvas and leather. It has a subtle paisley pattern in brown and burgundy/pink.
