WIW: Sweater Weather - YouLookFab Forum

I know I just posted a WIW yesterday, but I'm trying a totally new combination today, with a chunky sweater and drapey skirt.

I woke up to a temp in the 30s this morning and a predicted high around 60° so, not being one to waste opportunities, I went straight for my new fisherman's sweater. This sweater is cotton, so with just a cami under it, it's not quite as warm for transitional temps as an equivalent wool sweater might be.

I had a hard time styling this polka-dot skirt in a way I liked during the summer, but I'm happier with it today, paired with the sweater, dark cognac boots, and the magic hat. Does it work to your eyes?

Those boots are gorgeous! Do you have the sweater tucked under or is that the length? I have been eying it but thought it would be more tunic-y. Very fun quirky fall outfit!

Una, I have the front tucked here. I do plan to wear it tunic-y with jeans/leggings. The boots are Born and probably ten years old. I'll cry if they ever die.

I love it, too! That is a very skillful combination of chunky and drapey. I'm pretty sensitive to color, so the dots + cream are very important to tying together such very different items. The cognac accents are just what's needed as a third item/color and to warm up the whole outfit.

Ginger, thank you! The dots on this skirt are one of the reasons I've had such a hard time with it. They're not quite cream, but if you pair them with white, it's immediately clear they're not white either. This pairing is proving they're way warmer than I previously thought.

That white/cream thing can be a real deal-breaker for me, too! I think it's easier to blend off-white and cream than white with either; true white just makes it so obvious that everything else isn't. I think it's easier to find winter white/off white than true white, so maybe now both these items will be even more useful.

This is making me sad that it is so HOT here. I am sweltering in shorts and a tee. I really love that sweater on you. I like the pairing with the skirt and the fab boots. I have similar boots but they are now tucked away for the summer. Sigh.

Thanks, Brooklyn. I share your sentiments about summer. It's always hard for me. Part of why I enjoy living near mountains is that I can still get cool-weather weekends in during warmer times of year.
