WIW Sweater Weather - YouLookFab Forum

Hi,

It's finally getting darker just a little later, which means I can go back to snapping WIWs.

Here are some photos I had on the camera and forgot about. I've been hooked on sweaters/jumpers this season. Also this season is the first time I've actually WORN OUT footwear, finally progress with not shopping as much and using what I have instead.

#1-Blue Layers
I'm wondering if the length on this sweater is too long on short me. The zippers on these booties broke and I replaced them with the Tristina Strap Bootie.

#2-Add a Scarf
I'm not sporting scarves often this season, but every now and then I reach for one to add interest to a look. These boots also wore out but I did not replace them yet.

#3-Cable Bomber
The cable bomber acts like a blazer, but is a softer look.

#4-Lighten Up
Another chunky sweater.

#5-Brown and White
A pairing I would not have thought of without YLF and was inspired by this ensemble post.

Lisa, I actually really like the long blue sweater the way you are wearing it, as a column of colour. I understand your sensitivity -- I have trouble wearing longer sweaters, too, and always think they are leg-shortening. But in this case, it works.

That is amazing you are wearing your footwear out! Were these new boots or older ones?

I really like #2 as well; the fitted sweater suddenly looks fresh!

You have a great assortment of sweaters! I'm a fan of cables and yours are all yummy-looking. I agree with Suz that the length of the blue sweater looks good to me. And I also agree that pic 2 looks great--it's my favorite look (but I'm partial towards fitted sweaters). Very flattering on you.
I love the brown-white combo (it always makes me think of chocolate cake with whipped cream). Did you layer outerwear on top of the jacket?

These are terrific! It's such a treat to see you:) I actually love the length of the blue sweater. It is longer but looks very modern to me. All of these are fab but that is one of my faves. Love the white bottoms with brown too. Super gorgeous!

There is a lot of satisfaction in putting items in the trash bag instead of the donation bag. This year, I'm keeping count of how many things I do wear out in a year. I'm at 2. My shopping next year should reflect this number, not be 5 times the number.

I don't think the sweater in #1 is too long or short, but I get that the in between place can feel a little awkward. It's a nice tonal look. My favorite is #2, love the burgundy sweater. The brown and white looks great too.

I like the sweater in #1 at that length on you--more of a tunic length. These are all great sweater looks. My favorites are 2, 1, and 5. I adore that sweater and scarf combination, with the slim jeans and tall boots. The colors are rich and the outfit is super flattering.

So nice to see you posting, Lisa! The weather is very suited to warm sweaters, isn't it? I have been mainly wearing sweaters myself, one needs to stay warm.

All the outfits are great, and i especially like #2 and #5. I have the same sweater like yours in #1, and I actually recently wore it ina very simialr outfit (am yet to post it). I like the way it looks on you, I think mine looks very similarly. The only difference was the I wore mine with knee-length black boots instead of booties, somehow that looked more balancing to me.

These are all nice, cosy outfits, and the length of 1. looks fine to me. My favourite is 5. though - such a lovely outfit, and that brown and white colour combination really does work, doesn't it?

I enjoyed seeing your cosy, cold weather outfits. My favourites are #2 with the scarf, and #5 (love the brown and white together). You have some very nice boots too!

I really like your longer cable knit sweater with the plaid shirt underneath in #1. The burgundy in #2 is a very flattering color on you. These are great cold weather looks!

Isn't it wonderful to notice the lengthening daylight, even if it's still cold and snowy?

Suz-Thanks! None of the boots were new. The tall boots were 3 seasons old and the shorter booties were two seasons old. I was disappointed that the booties wore out so fast, but the tall boots I certainly had my money's worth, they were over 100 wears before I had to toss them.

K.M.-Thanks! Yes I did layer a coat over the brown jacket. I make sure my outerwear is big enough to layer over my blazers, so layering over this jacket (which is suede but not thick in weight) works well.

Kellygirl-Thanks! The tunic length sweater is nice and cozy.

Shedev-Thanks! And a great idea to track how many items are worn out. When one has streamlined their wardrobe, new additions shouldn't be more than what went out.

Firecracker-Thanks! The scarf has been a favorite for a few seasons now, I really enjoy it paired with that red/burgundy (?) shade.

Summer-Thanks! I always thought you could only pair brown with ivory, but now brown and white is my latest favorite.
