wiw: sweater vest with flares/cropped jeans

Angie posted about sweater vests being a trend for Fall. It is Spring here but I bought a few of these items during our autumn/winter. I wore them layered over long sleeve or short sleeve tops during the colder weather but now that it is warmer I am wearing them sleeveless. The one I am wearing here is cotton so it doesn't make me hot.
I have worn it casually over the last couple of weeks with both flares and cropped jeans, so I thought I would show both. I think the flares are more flattering. Certainly the flares are cooler to wear in warm weather. And not just because they have holes in them!

Rag and Bone Capri jeans. I created a find for these but Aussies please note that I got them at David jones for less than $100. Much less than the U.S. Price. Now that hardly ever happens.

Both are great, but I'm especially loving the flares. Those booties/sandals work so well with them.

That's a good analysis Sally. I never thought about it that way but I think you are right. I think the crops are more sporty and more tomboyish.

I saw a pic of me today wearing flares (it was from a few years ago as I do not own any at the moment) and it made me realise I want some badly!! They do a great job of balancing out my thighs.......

Sally, I know what you mean about the err... thigh issue. I was going to comment about that myself in the post but reconsidered. I don't know why flares and bootcuts ever went out of fashion when they are so flattering. Although skinnies still win hands down for practicality.

Both looks are fab Brooklyn. The second pic with the crops and mules caught my eye first, but I quite like the first look as well, even though I'm not so fond of flares (can't get past the 70s vibe). The flares are very flattering.

The sweater vest is great. I really like Piper. Along with CR, my favorite pieces seem to be from there and they're bringing in nicer thing all of the time.

Sara, I think you could describe it either way. I am wearing it as a sleeveless top here but I do wear it as a vest (ie layered over sleeved tops) during cool weather. The British seem to describe most sleeveless tops as vests. I have noticed this on Asos. In Australia we would probably describe it as a knit or jumper, as we don't use the term "sweater".
