WIW: summer casual and polka dot

Yesterday we had some warmth again! Spent the morning in a playground and the afternoon at a friend’s child’s birthday party.

Pic 1 is from the morning, yellow top, semi-tucked in black shorts, and brown leather flats.

Pic 2 is for the birthday party, a fairly new polka dot dress and my new nude sandals.

Any thoughts are much appreciated! Would love some ideas of how to dress up the dress. Don’t have much jewellery but thought about wearing a short necklace with a light blue round stone... can try it at some point!

I'm really loving yellow this year...glad you are enjoying it too!

I like the polka dot dress--very nice. I would dress it up with a dainty gold pendant and maybe a gold bracelet or anklet. I think that the dress is so beautiful that I wouldn't want to distract from it, just add a little glimmer or sparkle to brighten things up. You could also try wearing a bright nail polish on hands or feet.

Both look good! Digging the black+brown mix with the yellow top in #1, and the dotty dress is super cute. I had to re-read that you asked for dressing it up, I'm used to seeing "how to dress down" Second the idea of metallics to add a little glam. A pointy flat would be a little dressier. And a short structured jacket could do the trick, too.

Both outfits look wonderful on you. To dress up the polkadot dress, how about white pointy flats, a white clutch and a necklace of big gumball sized faux pearls. I cannot see the waist very well, but you could add a pretty ribbon tied in a bow for a belt.

For dressing up the dress, I suggest chunky white pearls and chic but comfy white shoes.

You could also add a white jacket ( i. e. a linen blazer) or a gauzy white shawl. And what about a white straw hat, perhaps with a blue ribbon?
