Thanks Jonesy. I hope your sweater works out. I love those abstract blue green combinations best of all.

Beautiful Brooklyn! I can't pick a favourite! I see what Angie (and you) mean by finishing off an outfit with accessories and you do it well! I am taking notes!

I am so sorry I missed this thread-just wondering if couldn't you perhaps turn back on your wiw picties for one more day, please- for those of us who missed them...

No worries Lyn. Done.

And thanks BlueJay!

Once again, I am in awe of your ability to turn inspiration/mood pictures into real life outfits. Super well done! The teal is a wonderful color and works marvelously for you.

The colors are just gorgeous. After reading Suz’ skirt post I was puzzled - “Basque skirt.” I’ve never heard of this before. I’ve seen drop waist skirts before. Is this a common term? Is it referencing their traditional dress? I’ve been to the Basque festival here in town, but I don’t remember the women’s skirts.

Thanks JAileen. I googled it and it seems to be a French term that references a type of corset that used to be worn that extends past the waist over the hips. I think I prefer the term “basque” to “drop waist” because to me “drop waist” evokes the 20s style drop waist dress which tends to be loose from waist to hips.

And thanks Bella.

Hi, I am new here, maybe this can help with basque confusion:

In sewing terms, basque is a flap of fabric that is on the top part of the skirt, attached at the waist but separate from the rest. Or it can be part of the jacket. like this:

I also saw the word peplum to describe this. It indeed resembles the lower part of the corset staying off the body.
the detail on the skirt in Suz's post is "yoke".

Nice to see this post again, such beautiful colours. I thought of you today Brooklyn when I wore what I think of as my teal duster, although our receptionist called it a different colour- it’s a darkish green which can look black on screens.
Thanks to Val above too for her thoughts- now I think about it I might have called the skirt detail a yoke too?

OMG and you did it for me, I feel so special now!!! Thanx so much Brooklyn!!! These were all a feast to my eyes!!! I don't know how you do it ---You can always twist your palette so that it looks true to your curent inspirations (now the blues and greens again) but still can incorporate your older things and stay true to yourself!! Love all that glam and luxury which shine trough all these outfits--especially that they are casual ones. Happy dance!!! Thanx again!!!!
