In my second post about WIW during Summer I’m covering pinks and purples.

In Summer, I like the lighter, dustier versions of pink and purple, from dusty pink through to mauve and light to medium brownish or washed shades of plum. They have a desert vibe that suits my theme.

These colours are difficult to find at retail. Summer pinks tend to be bright or icy. Summer purples are usually in the lilac or orchid family. Too blue or clear. So I did some DIY dyeing, including the washed plum linen skirt that features heavily in these photos.

I find these shades quite versatile. I like them with all shades of brown (tan, camel, cognac chocolate brown, dark brown), olive, gold, copper, rust, apricot, verdigris green, teal, dark red, burgundy, darker shades of plum and black.

As usual, I have included some inspiration pictures from my mood board.

Also, in my (unsuccessful) search for a Summer dress, I came across a picture of tie dyed Ulla Johnson dress that I love (pic 19). Alas I couldn’t find it at retail anywhere. It would probably cost a zillion dollars anyway But it inspired me to tie dye one of my Zara tops. I had accidentally smudged it in an early dye attempt so the tie dye in fact saved it. I like the combination of dusty pink/plum, coppery orange, gold and brown, which is reminiscent of the sunrise.
