I would have preferred my white low top converse with this outfit to watch fireworks but they are not walking shoes for me. They squeeze my toes together. Interesting how some round toes can be less comfortable than some pointy toes. I wanted to wear white shoes though so my most comfortable shoes were not worn, but these were good enough. No padding so they are not an all day shopping shoe.
I wouldn't normally wear stripes with stripes but I saw examples of this when googling striped blazers to see how to wear them. I thought I would play with it for the 4th as I didn't have any stars. Actually I have a red belt with stars but this was already getting costumey so I chose the white belt. I haven't actually worn stripes for years but wanted a breton after seeing them in Angie's classics post & also on my trench coat searches. I'm not sure if the blazer is me, but I bought this in 2 colours as they were running out at $35 down from $138 & I thought they could be useful. So now I have 4 bretons & 2 striped blazers. I think the ponte blazer is convenient for layering under my coats as it doesn't have shoulder pads. It is also great for travel or to wear instead of a hoodie, due to the knit fabric. I like Angie's idea of mixing classics with other pieces but I hope I'm not becoming too classic lol. It isn't that I dislike the look on others but I'm not sure if it is me or if it is just what I keep seeing online. My alternative rocker & retro boho edgy looks did need to grow up a bit, due to my age, but I don't know if I'm ready to leave them behind all together. I don't go out nearly as much these days but when I do I see more of my old style on others & wonder. What influences our style? What is truly us?
