WIW: Steampunk Fun for Cirque Du Soleil

Heading into Denver for dinner out and then an evening performance of Cirque du Soleil. It's their steampunk show, Kurios, so I thought I'd get in the spirit with a few steampunky accessories over my LBD: buckled shooties and some fun layered necklaces.

A few notes: These shooties are the comfiest 4" heels I own, but they're still 4" heels and I'm anticipating a lot of city walking, so I have some flats in my tote, just in case. Ditto for a black cardigan, in case of AC.

Wearing: Calvin Klein dress, Clarks buckle pumps, Fossil Sydney shopper

ETA: After seeing these pics, I tightened up the belt another notch to hit closer to my actual waist.

Cute outfit! Clarks are very good in my experience. Keep your weight on your heels and off the balls of your feet and you'll be fine. Enjoy!

approprio - According to my Fitbit, I managed about 3 miles walking in the Clarks. I swapped out after the show and wore flats for the last 2 miles. Wasn't quite up for wearing heels on uneven stone sidewalks with tired feet in the dark. 3 miles on 4" heels is pretty darn good, though!

kerlyn, Word Lily, and lyn67 - I kind of wish I had an occasion to dress full-on steampunk. It's such a fun style. I think I'll have to be satisfied with books and movies for now, though.

Maneera - I told you I loved the geek chic! Those are actually my backup glasses, but I'm starting to wear them more when I want a bolder look. I think there's a lot of fun to be had in eyewear.

Firecracker - I feel a lot better in black when I pair it with brown. There's something really grounding about it.

Yes Jenn I made it. I still have the skirt which I actually made out of one piece of fabric without cutting it as I thought I might want to undo it and use the fabric sometime for a proper garment, but I haven't had the heart to unpick it!

Hehe. Too many friends and acquaintances who are too much! We argue. I like steampunk for real life, as you've done here. They are more inclined towards Vampire, The Masquerade.
