WIW: spring time

Here are a few work WIW. My workplace is very casual.

I have been trying out long tops. The proportions seem ok in real life; in photos, I'm not so sure. Opinions?

My strappy cork heels are still going strong after 4 years! These shoes are the reason i haven't yet ventured into the block heeled sandal arena: I like my sandals enough that I think another dressy sandal would be overkill.

I am also enjoying my neckerchief (5) which I wear far more often than these WIWs would indicate.

You'll also see some Helmut Lang tops. They'll all be useful, but the brown one is really persnickety and snags a lot. I must be careful.

I am also enjoying my Prada and Furla bag, although my furla seems to go with more stuff! Still, I love my brown bag and think that it will be great for fall.

My suede oxford shoes are not getting as much wear as I thought as I cannot wear them when it's raining (and it has rained 90% of the time, it seems).

Things I'd like to add:
- bootcut trousers for work! I have bootcuts jeans but I want more polish!
- dresses! Still can't find anything I like for work.
- block heeled ballet flats. I am still eyeing some of Ferragamo Varas, but I don't know if I can splurge that much. There are other options.

I like them all, too. My fave is prob 5. But they're all great.

All lovely outifts! I like them all but I have a preference for # 6, 12 and 14 - probably because they look the most Springy to me. I guess it is still chilly where you live.

These are all so great I can't pick a favorite. The neckerchief look is really flattering on you. I tried it but it felt very not-me and I haven't left the house wearing a neckerchief yet. I think it's trend I'm going to sit out even though I have the perfect small square silky scarf in colors I love.

Sisi: yes, it has been mostly cold (under 15c/59F) and rainy here. Great for my tulips though: they lasted 3 weeks!

I adore your layered looks here. You mix proportions (long tops, shorter tops, rolled hemlines) perfectly each time.

These are amazing and I can't choose a favorite. I think the long tops work very well - and in those outfits you look like my most stylish coworker (something about your proportions is similar). I also really like the bootcut jeans / elbow sleeve top / neckerchief outfit.

In 12-13 I wonder if the outfit would look better with higher rise jeans. Something about the dark belt below the hem of the jacket.

A unifying theme of all of these is a streamlined fit that showcases your figure without being tight or stiff. Somehow even the wide leg crops work with that for you.

Pulled together, casually chic, modern, comfortable and practical. You DO take after your stylish Mum. I can't pick a fave - love it all.

(Btw, looks like we have a similar body type).

What a great collection of looks- you look great in all these photos. You can wear skinny, culottes and flared jeans brilliantly. You are looking more polished I think- but still cool- which is a great balance. I like your colour palette of mostly neutrals with a touch of red.

I can learn from these looks - while I have a different shape I think there are some of them that would work on me too.

You look sensational in all of these! Wow. Also, waving at my footwear twin. (Booties and white sneakers...). My absolute faves are 4, 5, 6 and 10, 11, and 14.

Re the oxfords, never fear...not all springs are as wet as this one and you may find them coming into their own in the fall.

You look great in the neckerchief. I find myself less enamoured of it than I might have expected (for myself, I mean -- it's how it feels on my neck, maybe, not really a looks thing) but when I see it on you I want to wear it!

I love the culottes on you and you are inspiring me to pull out my own tomorrow.

Everything seems to look good on you, Smittie, but those Helmut Lang tops are really adding a dramatic element to your casual, easy look. I love that sleeveless black top with jeans in #14, and the great proportions in #7, but agree with everybody that it's hard to pick a favorite among these great outfits. Fantastic.

Wow you look sensational in those wide crop jeans (no 6 and 7). A picture of glamour. I also really like the bootcuts in 5. But they are all great. I like the long top look and do that myself from time to time. Some looks are harder to photograph. Eg Sack dresses can look great in person but when photographed can look flat and, well, sacky.

I am not a neckerchief fan. Just feels too hot and restricting to me in summer. But I like the look on others, including you!

Casual, polished, modern - I really can't pick a favorite. I'm really picking up on a Jackie O vibe, especially in the first four outfits. Same casual elegance. You are fab!

greyscale: I think you're right about higher rise jeans. Any replacements will be higher rise. I do like the slimmer fits: I think it's an easy way to add structure without actually wearing very structured garments.

BrookLyn: thank you. I guess neckerchief people are a rare breed. Working in an office helps to stay cool. We'll see how it goes this summer. Thanks for your take on the proportions and photographing. I think culottes is another one of those things that are hard to photograph.

All: I am getting my groove with dressing, and have been very pleased with most of my purchases over the past year. It is the encouragement of this board to try new silhouettes and trends that has really helped my style along.
