Wednesday to Friday have had a theme for working from home.

- linen/ cotton popover blouses
- true spring colours

My Mum would have liked me wearing these blouses as she encouraged me into spring colours. I can struggle sometimes to find things I like in these colours - but I do like this style of top.

The blush is new and the others are 2 and 5 years old. I am yet to create a find for the blush.

I find the culottes outfit a bit too floaty/dreamy or unstructured for my tastes despite loving the colours. Is it JFE - and any ideas to give it a bit more energy? Does that make sense?

I am impressed how you can go from blue to peachy (it looks peach on my screen anyway) to blue again! I will be radical and suggest a belt for the culottes (perhaps a wide one over the whole outfit)- although they look great to me as is.

Shevia - maybe peach is a better word for it than blush (it is a warm tone for sure). I think these are probably my most flattering tones but I am often drawn to something less pastel....

A belt might work....worth an experiment. That is a radical suggestion though...

I love those light colors on - perfect for spring!
Something in white or printed ( like scarf with white, brown, blush ) to play with - but the tonal blush looks very nice on you!

I think the silhouette of the culottes outfit is definitely JFE and I like those colors on you. I notice the blues/greens in the other outfits you show are more saturated. Maybe add something in a saturated color to the outfit (scarf? Swap out the bag?) for more energy?

Gosh these colours are just STUNNING on you. You certainly have your best colours down - you look like a fashion influencer!

You might try a longer slightly more structured top with the culottes to make them 'stand at attention' of you know what I mean?

I think the blush/peach looks fabulous on you! Although it's quite different from the energy of the blue outfits, I quite like the softer vibe for you, too. Perhaps a bold necklace -- ie wooden beads, hammered or burnished finish, chunky -- might help add some drama and intriguing contrast. And maybe hair down?

Slimcat - I wonder if white in the mix might help or Carol - a chunky accessory? All worth experimenting with and might help me feel more like me!!

Roxanna - I am trying to wear my colours more (I am pretty broad with what that means though) and wearing less black, no dark greys and cooler colours mixed in with warm....

Sarah - I think a bit more contrast somewhere would help (especially with these linen unstructured pieces).

Next time I pull this out I will try a few variations with shoes, jewelry, a belt and maybe even hair.

This outfit was worn to drive (or be driven) by my son to his vaccine no 2. He is supposed to sit his license next week but covid is playing havoc with the timeline.....

You look SO spring-like in these outfits, Sally! These really are your colours -- your mum was right! All the outfits really do feel off-duty Charlie's Angel to me, too. Easy, relaxed, but effortlessly cool.

Perhaps hair down when wearing the culottes to balance the proportions. How about a crossbody bag with a pop of colour - green or orange?

I love outfits 1 and 3. The colours really do work for you. 2 looks floaty to me because the arms and legs are wide and floaty. I need one to be more structured. YES to shorts at all ages.

These are gorgeous outfits Sally. And I love your hair in 1 and 3. You look great in shorts.

No 2 looks lovely. And I really like the tonal combination. Are the top and bottoms both made from linen? If so, maybe it is the abundance of linen that makes it feel unstructured? Maybe linen top with more structured cotton pants or jeans or linen pants with a cotton or silk top (rather than all over linen) would work better for you in terms of balancing out the rumple factor of linen?

I think the middle outfit is really pleasing, but if you want to add a bit more something to it, how about metallic sandals and bag? Or snake print?

The three outfits together are a GORGEOUS Spring palette on you, Sal! KILLER FAB all round. Lovely that the blouses make you think of your Mama - she was dead right about you rocking them

As for more energy for #2 - white footwear and yellow bag (or a white one if you have it).

Re energy to outfit no. 2: How about adding a couple of blue (not navy) or turquoise items? Footwear, bag, belt, jewellery ... Perhaps a braided belt in two (or more) colours? Or two- or three-coloured sandals/bag?

I love the monochrome look of the culottes outfit, but agree that stronger accessories might give it the impact you’re looking for - turquoise bag? blue bag? metallic sandals?

Thanks missvee - metallics could be the ticket. I have a tiny clutch blue bag that might work for some occasions.

TheCat - I could experiment with belts. And yes my Mum (who was probably a Soft Autumn with auburn hair, very fair skin, light blue eyes) always encouraged me into traditional spring colours (once we got over brown and orange everything in the 70s!!).

Angie - I do have a yellow bag but not a white one. I think I will wear this next time with white footwear, and maybe either a white or turquoise bracelet.. I will try the yellow - it might just work

Janet - at the moment I don't have metallic sandals except for heels. I am thinking that is the way I might go for new additions this summer though.

Brooklyn- that's my crazy stay at home hair.......sometimes it works well, other times (ahem). Yes linen on linen is part of the challenge I agree. I bought this peachy blouse to wear with the white shorts, with mid blue denim at the beach or on the tennis sideline, but I thought this tonal look was worth experimenting with. I think more structure on the top or bottom would make it easier..

I agree Star, I find unstructured all over a bit of a challenge even though there are ankles exposed. I usually wear the culottes with a more fitted top.

Lozz-oz - thanks - Mum's often are. We had a few fights over clothes as she wanted me to wear "pretty" things and I wanted to wear "cool" things in the 80s... We both agreed on me wearing bold turquoise and jade green though.

Thanks Suz. This blue blouse is one of my most seasonal pieces and it feels right every spring. It is a bit warmer than it looks so come mid summer it doesn't get worn again - and then in Autumn it feels a bit off. So in spring I try and wear it at least once a week for about two months.
