WIW & Spiegel jacket - YouLookFab Forum

Here are a few WIW's and the Spiegel jacket in all of its glory. This is the 8. I posted about sizing in Una's "lemming" thread. Overall, I think it is pretty true to size in the 8. I have a sleeveless top underneath. I could probably wear a long sleeve knit top but nothing much heavier. There isn't much extra room in the arms. It's fairly fitted--especially under the arm holes (which I think would be the limiting factor for me.) My chest is flat but I'm very thick through the shoulders and chest--this may not be a problem for size 8s that are more slightly built. I also threw in a picture of my other black leather jacket--the Trouve one I picked up at the Rack. I've worn it a lot but use it more as a blazer than a jacket. I think they are different enough to warrant keeping both. Do you agree? Thanks for looking. Opinions welcome

ETA: The Spiegel is shown: open, buttoned, buttoned to the tippy top (weird) and the back. Trouve is on the far right.

I love the Spiegel! I'm about to post mine too. I think yours fits perfectly, and different from the Trouve. Keep both!

I like both jackets and the collars and fit are different enough that I would not consider it a duplication.

I like it, Kelly! I far prefer it open on you; I hope that won't limit it too much since you intend to use it as a topper outdoors.

Love the Trouve on you as well, but I can see why it gets more use as a blazer.

I think the jacket is different enough to keep both, it looks great on you. Now it will work quite well with those black cowboy boots and t-shirt outfit from the WIWs photo. And I see the BF jeans are already out and about, yay team wear!

The Trouvé is more of a blazer- not really the same at all.

You look as pretty as ever. I love the way the Trouve nips in at your waist and then flares back out. With the deep V, it's a very flattering silhouette. The Spiegel feels more boxy to me, Kelly, and to my eye it emphasizes your shoulders and upper body more than your waist.

Love all your outfits, particularly the drapey top one. I see the difference between the two leather jackets and I agree the trouve is more of a blazer look. The Speigel looks fab!

Looks great Kelly! I know the Spiegel jacket is designed a bit boxier but I quite like it anyway - and for the price, I feel it is easy to justify esp. for casual lifestyles. Of course I'm biased because I got one too. The blazer style of the Trouve is beautiful too, but very different.

What Kyle said. But if you have activities that warrant a true "outerwear" leather jacket, you can't beat the Spiegel one for the price. If you could only have one, I'd pick the Trove for sure. You look amazing in those BF jeans, BTW! I'm glad to see you're off the crutches.

@Kyle, Claire and Suz: Thanks for your honesty. I didn't bite until the jacket hit the rock bottom price because of the lapels. I do think that style accentuates shoulders but I was willing to try it because of the sale. Honestly, if it was full price, I would have returned but this fills a "leather jacket" gap with barely a dent in the bank, needs virtually no alterations plus I don't have to worry about ruining it! For me, that is a win-win. I'm also thinking that I will likely be wearing this with boots which will help balance me out (or make me look like the Terminator!) Either way, since DD is dating, can only work in my favor to increase my size and fear factor. Lol! I so appreciate your opinions--thank you!

I like it a lot on you, Kelly! I think they look different enough. The spiegel has a looser, almost bomber-ish vibe when open and a tougher, moto look when closed, and the Trouve is much more refined and blazer-ish.
I am keeping both the Spiegel and my fitted, cropped classic black moto. They seem different enough to me.

And LOL at increasing your size and fear factor! Maybe you should see how some brass knuckles go with the Spiegel....

Thanks for posting Kelly! This gives me an idea about fit (I think I need to go up one size larger). Anyhow, I do think this is different enough from the Trouve to keep both. I like the tough slouchy edge it has, and it seems like a good weight for our weather.

@Cathy: I'd size up to the 10 if you want to layer underneath. There's no way that I could layer anything under the 8. I think an 8 would probably fit you fine--if you want more of a close fit.
