Today's outfit screams 2014 to me. I am incorporating 4 of the 5 key trends of 2014:
Irregular outfit juxtaposition - dressy blazer with ripped BF jeans and slouchy, flat, distressed boots
Just enough structure - fluid blouse, slouchy BF jeans and slouchy boots are given just enough structure by a tailored blazer and semi-tucked waist. I did try a boxier cut blazer (my Gap academy blazer) and it did not work at all.
Combining classics with trends - I think the blazer is a pretty classic piece, although it is on the arty side, and here I'm combining it with a trendy, volume-on-volume ensemble.
High-Low style - well, not so high and not so low, but my blazer is Nanette Lepore and my jeans are from Gap.

As a bonus, the boots are a comfort brand (Remonte Dorndorf, which is sold by Rieker in the US). Maybe this obliquely counts as Hip to be Square?

I find the current trendiness of this outfit interesting because NONE of the pieces are actually from 2014. The belt is the newest item, and it was my Secret Santa gift from Denise in Dec 2013. The BF jeans are from summer of 2013, and everything else is from 2012 or before. I guess it just goes to show that you can be trendy by recombining older pieces in a modern way!

Happiness factor is super high today!
