This was a very hot and casual week. I bought a few things at Loft and am wearing them for the first time, with a few questions.

#1 Weekend outfit for running errands. Old loft tank, light blue shorts and grey clutch. Please disregard the dusty mirror from renovation - I forgot to wipe it down again.

#2 New drop waist dress. This is so light, cool and comfortable. Such a cute dandelion print! It felt a little too casual for the office without the topper so I kept it on. I've worn these booties with skirts before but not with a dress and really liked it. Does it work?

#3 New sleeveless shirt. Something felt off here. I folded the shirt under because I couldn't get semi-tuck to lay right. Will have to work on that.

#4 New trapeze dress. I'm not used to this cut. Is it ok on me? How's the length? (I should've taken the knee sleeve off for the pic) Worn with coral/black scarf I was so happy to have found (and 50% off the clearance price! Actually everything was 40% off reg. and 50% off sale)

#5 Wearing a cold-shoulder top for the first time! DH picked which skirt to wear with it. And big earrings!

#2 is Killer. I LOVE that dropped waist on you, Donna. Fresh and fun.

#4 would actually be fab with cropped leggings since your knee sleeve suggests that look in a way already. Length looks just fine for work because it's not a tight dress. Gorgeous with the scarf and shoes. Another GREAT look.

I love #4 -- that's my favorite! #2 is really great too (and I'm not a big fan of dropped-waist dresses, maybe because I have sour grapes because I can't wear them )

I like the color of the shirt in #3, but I agree that something seems off -- is the shirt a little big on you? The overall proportions seem a little too long.

Great outfits and new items. I love the dress in 2. I agree the turquoise top might be a bit too big. What I've experienced with this style is the neckline is too open for me, so I add a hidden snap or button to close the placket higher up.

Great looks, Donna -- I love them all. That drop waist dress is so fab on you! I had my eye on it a bit and now, even more so. I also love the new trapeze dress and agree it would work with cropped leggings (or without). #1 is really great as well with the Freebirds and the shorts.

The turquoise top -- I think the semi-tuck on that may solve your problem, if you can find a way to do it. I had a top in a similar cut and the first year I owned it I just could not make it work -- I was trying to wear it untucked or sometimes folded under a bit. Once I started semi tucking into pants with a belt it became a favourite piece.

No 1 is my fave too. You look so adorable! I like the trapeze dress and agree with A that you could wear leggings with it if you are unsure about the length (although the length does look fine to me).

These look great. The only one that is slightly off is #3 as you say. The top is too thin to be folded under and the skirt and top length (even folded) seem off. I like the leggings under the dress and often wear them that way. You look great in red!

I tried on the same dress in #2 and I thought the same thing, too casual for work. I just couldn't figure out how to style it. But the way you did it looks really great. It looks very work appropriate now. The topper and booties made all the difference. It's a pretty print and a nice pop of color. Well done! And don't AT/Loft have great sales?

Thanks Anna! I've always wanted to wear these booties with a dress but couldn't quite figure out how.

Yes, Donna, the combination of short torso and wide hips make dropped waists very hard to wear. Most dresses cut that way are too long in the top and catch on my hips in a most unflattering way. You wear the style so well though!

So that would make sense Janet, and also why I had to immediately take off the couple of elastic waist dresses I have tried on. They hit me so high, I couldn't possibly wear them.
