As I mentioned on Angie's blog post this morning, I never stopped wearing the shell-over-shirt look, as I have a lot of handknit sleeveless shells and sweater vests, and this is the perfect way to wear them in the winter. I generally pair my shells with silky or slightly sheer blouses rather than crisp button-downs, as they are a much better fit with my style as well as being more comfortable. Although most of my shells/vests are too warm for the current weather, this silk lace shell is actually a summer item, and layering it over a sheer long sleeved silk blouse allows me to extend its wear into autumn. As you can see, it's still warm enough (in the 70's and sunny and dry, pretty much perfect weather) for sandals and bare ankles so the sheer long sleeves add just enough warmth.
