WIW: Shirt layered under t-neck. ETA neckline closeup

A while ago, Angie showed me a visual of a shirt layered under a turtleneck. Today, in the spirit of my continuing quest to master this layering-with-shirttails showing thing, I decided to give it a try.

This is super comfy and could easily be a winter uniform for me. A couple of reasons:

The top is stretch silk (from Ann Taylor a few seasons ago). Very comfortable.

The sweater (which is charcoal, not black) is tailored but not at all tight. It is an old Lord and Taylor merino. When I bought it about 3 years ago, the fit seemed almost unfashionably boxy! How times change!!

The jeans are my favourite CoH Racer skinnies.

The booties are my Stuart Weitzman chelsea boots, love of my life.

Uncharacteristically, I decided to add a bit of shine in the form of my mother's old rhinestone necklace and another sparkly necklace, gift from a friend. It may be too much with the shirt collar, but I kind of like it.

Does this work? Proportions okay? Is it JCE (just current enough)?

ETA: the sweater is a turtleneck. I have pulled the collar out a bit over the top so the "wings" of it show. And the necklaces are layered.

I love this, Suz. I have been wanting to play with the shirt-under-turtleneck-sweater for a while. I'm going to try it with the collar up, with the collar totally hidden inside, and with the collar out-and-down, as you have it. I think the amount of shirt showing at the bottom is perfection. LOVE. And love the mother sparkle too.

I love it! Reading the thread title I was wondering how anyone could pull of a shirt under a turtleneck, but this looks great. Love the necklace with it too.

Beautiful! The necklace looks great - polished and refined, but not too much at all.

I'm smiling at your memory of the sweater seeming boxy a few years ago. I had the same thought this morning about my J Crew Tippi sweaters that I sized up on. They used to seem fluid and borderline too big, but now feel almost tailored.

This looks really great Suz, proportions look good to me. I'm happy you're having fun with adding some jewelry to your outfits too. The streamlined button down seems key for layering and yours sounds and looks perfect.

Oh, this looks wonderful! The necklace is an inspired idea -it actually read as being part of the shirt collar until I looked more closely, I suppose because the texture of the necklace is similar to the pattern of the shirt. I was wondering how you got such an interesting neckline. The proportions look perfect.

Angie, yes, maybe some sparkly earrings would be a good idea. I tend to wear the same simple pair all the time. I do have an entire box full of others (I used to wear many more types) but always revert to my favourites. For the holidays, a sparkly set would be especially great. And I've actually enjoyed wearing these necklaces today. When the rest of the outfit is very simple and "quiet" I quite enjoy the jewellery, it turns out -- as long as it doesn't interfere with movement. I sometimes like the look of a pendant, and own a few. But they can get in the way when they swing around and that bothers me.

So cool! This would look flat-out ridiculous on my stump of a neck, but on you it's pure elegance.

That is really chic, Suz. Consider yourself lucky you can wear this combination, because I am quite sure it's a very few who can. It looks fantastic on you! You really wear your jeans well too - love from me for the whole look here:)

The result is very nice and dynamic. This is something I can imagine you could wear and be very busy, and feel breezy, chic in. The necklace make this outfit. Its shine and refinement elevate it nicely, bringing attention upwards towards your lovely smile.

I like this version the proportions are spot on and the bit of print peeking out from the solid pullover is a nice touch of pattern here. Pretty necklace, although I would prefer if a necklace is layered with this look it is a tad longer. With the shirt collar and the necklace so close together, it's a lot going on around the neck. But that's just my preference!

Love the combination --- and the layered necklaces are a great touch, and a way to get variety in your Work-At-Home wardrobe. I enjoyed wearing small, but glitzy earrings everyday during my holiday capsule!

Oh, here was got me confused-- I thought the necklace was the printed blouse and couldn't figure out why it was below the neckline, nor could I see where the necklace was! Now all is clear.
