As you may recall, I had concerns about whether or not this skirt was going to work for me (http://youlookfab.com/welookfa.....pple-skirt). The original fit was horrendous, but I took it to Wonder Woman (a.k.a. seamstress) and she has remade it essentially - took in the sides and tapered it, put a kick pleat in the back and took a half inch off the bottom to help with the shape. I couldn't be more pleased and here is my pretty Shabby Apple skirt finally out to play! I've paired it with a simple brown knit tank, denim jacket and one of my men's vintage belts.

I'm also wearing for the first time, my Aerosoles oxford sandals. Let me tell you, these babies are comfy! I've continued with camel for my accessories by adding my camel coloured bag.

I've tried on my Shabby Apple skirt with my magenta blazer and pinky-peach cropped jacket and they also work. I'd love other suggestions for styling please!

yay! the shabby apple skirt out to play! and no kidding is your seamstress wonderwoman... it looks like an entirely different skirt (albeit in the same fabric). great pairing with the denim and camel.

Please don't take me wrong Shannon, You are such a sharp and bold Lady!
But I like this skirt much more like styled in your previous thread.I think here is too much of camel, with the bag, the shoes and the belt for looking really current (at least for my not so expert eyes).Also am a bit controversial on the look (not the color) of the Aerosoles, but others will know better for sure!

Great outfit - much nicer fit in the skirt. Aren't good alterations worth every penny? It sounds like you have some good options with your other jackets. How about a lighter coloured tank with this jean jacket?

Your smile shows it! Following your heart was the right idea. And if we factor in the cost of alteration from the beginning with an item, then it's more than worth it. I really like this. The shoes are so pretty! (But then you know me...I have a soft eye for vintage anything, too). And the jacket adds your toughness/structure. While the skirt is just so pretty.

I have found that narrowed pencils work much better for me, too. So glad you followed through on this.

I don't have any brilliant style ideas to start but will mull on it later on.

I absolutely love this skirt and, as Suz said, you can tell from your smile that you feel great in it! I bet it looks great from the back as well, with that new kick pleat. I really like the jacket + skirt combo, and I think you'll have fun pairing this with other accessories. I'd be interested to see how the skirt looks with a colorful belt, shoes, or even a scarf. I also think you should try tucking the top into the skirt -- I think that, now that the skirt fits well, you can play with the proportions a bit more, and that will help you get more mileage out of it.

Wow, alterations are like magic the skirt fits you perfectly and this outfit is great I would like to see it paired with more colour though.

Shannon the skirt has turned out beautifully and it's so unique. It was definitely worth the alterations. This is probably a more subdued color scheme for you but it is still very flattering. Those Oxford sandals are the perfect shoe with this skirt. I really like this. You look wonderful.

Wow, I didn't see the original thread with this skirt, but what a wonderful transformation! I love it, and you look fantastic. Those shoes are adorable, I'm glad they're comfy!

I just love when a tailoring transform something. I think this outfit is great and the shoes are super fab. The only thing I might change is the color of the tank - it appears black on my screen and I think I would like a softer color - probably you don't want more camel but maybe something like the rose in the skirt (if that is what it is) or yellow.

Shannon: You look terrific! I like the styling as you have it here -- The dark neutral of the tank and the denim dress it "down" a bit. You certainly have lots of options to add more color, of course, and those will be great choices, too! The shoes are amazing. They match your skin tone very well, which means that add a lot of detail and edge without chopping up your legs -- not an easy thing to pull of, and you did it! I can see a necklace added to bring some detail near your face, as long as you don't feel to ALGO. Come to think of it, I've never seen you in earrings. Do you wear them? (Not that you need them, I'm just curious).

Still not sure... I know you love love love this skirt but I just do not. I don't find large scale prints like this one to be very flattering, also the color is a problem for me.... I like what you did with the neutral shoes on the bottom though. It extends your leg line, which is key for a tricky length like you chose for the skirt. Did you consider a lighter colored top under the denim jacket? It seems a bit unbalanced to me with all of the light colors on the bottom and the dark colors on top. I think you accessorized it perfectly -- I love that you carried the nude, tan and beige tones throughout the outfit. Even though it is not my favorite ensemble of yours, I still think it is nicely done and well thought out.

Shannon, I love what your Wonderwoman has done with this skirt and I am curious about the kick pleat!

Those shoes are insanely, wickedly good, vintage with an edge, yummy tones!

I can see this being paired with a light top, in my mind I see yellow (doesn't have to match, just coordinate) for a vertical unbroken line that I personally love. I see something fitted (whether knit or woven), perhaps scoopnecked, very Spring-y.

I also enjoy the idea of amplifying those pink/red elements of the print in the rest of your outfit.

Well done with the alteration and I agree with Suz, it is worth it!

There is almost nothing in the world that warms my heart like a good tailor. Seriously, one get these pieces that are literally for no one else. It is YOURS and it is YOU !! This is just fantastic. I am going through a "bird" phase so I am particularly enamored of this.

The skirt looks fabulous! Re. styling, I think I would wear it with a light blouse, say, in white or chambray (there's the chambray again...I guess I think it goes with lots of stuff, especially lighter colors).

You look terrific, Shannon! I like the way the dark top bookends your dark hair. The shoes are KILLER. Retro and fun with the skirt.

Love Jonesy's suggestion of chambray as I also find it very versatile. How about a cream top?

I definitely agree there needs to be tweaking done re: styling. More colour needs to be added, lightness on the top half of the outfit, different handbag, etc.

Jonesy/Angie - I did try the skirt on with my chambray shirt last night and a belt and quite liked the look. Will definitely give that a go.

Rita - I totally appreciate your honest opinion. I will do my best to try and win you over with better styling!

Beth Ann - I very rarely wear earrings any more. I find they compete too much with my glasses on my small face. But can definitely add a necklace to this.

Just for clarity, I doubt I will EVER be tucking into this skirt. The extremely high waist is still unflattering when the top is tucked.

Shannon, this is a great outfit! I love how your new skirt turned out. As a side note, I wonder if your seamstress could just make you a skirt from scratch, since the alterations she did was almost as much work. (just an idea, because then you could pick any fabric). I love your new shoes, too. Aerosoles are really comfortable and those fit your style perfectly!

OMG could this get any more perfect? That was my original thought and I wanted to say it, even after I read though the comments. Your tailor IS Wonder Woman, for sure! The color and print of that skirt seems to just continue your leg line down to the funky, cool shoes! The darker brown top is better (IMO) next to your face than more camel would be, but I adore the camel bag. It looks like you have the perfect denim jacket to pull out just for these occasions, hooray for great basics. I can't get over how perfectly that skirt fits and flatters you! Make sure your tailor knows she has an online fan club!

I've been looking forward to the skirt's debut. It looks great after tailoring. I don't think you need the belt and I second the idea of a lighter top in cream, white or chambray. I'd love to see it styled with flat sandals and a white tee, once summer rolls around.

Would something like this shrug work with this skirt with a simple pale yellow tank underneath? It would pull the pink leaves out of the skirt.

WOW, it really is a whole new skirt! Amazing, and I love it with the booties. Very cool!

Does Wonder Woman make garments from scratch? I mean, if she rebuilt this whole skirt, I could totally see bringing her some awesomely printed fabric someday - would probably be cheaper than buying and shipping a ready-made item. Just a thought.

I think you could play with variations on all the colors in the pretty fabric - pinks, cream, maybe yellow (that would be a lot of yellow) and for sure blue. I have a fondness for brown as well.

Aerosoles are very "kicky" and retro. I may need to look into the brand for some work heels.

What a transformation! You are so lucky to have "wonder woman" because you look wonder-full! It's a beautiful skirt and looks very wearable. Have you tried it with a white sleeves rolled shirt, no jacket? For the upcoming warmer weather.

I think she did a great job transforming the skirt. I had a print skirt in a similar shade of yellow with some taupe in it and it looked great with a slightly greyed down purple in a mid-range depth. I can see this skirt with a soft knit wrap in that type of color (almost neutral) and the denim jacket. I think the muted purple would work for you too.
