WIW: Safari Blazer Seven Ways (For Nancylee)

As you might know, I bought a BR safari blazer from nancylee a couple of weeks ago, and it is was such a bargain for me! It is so comfortable and fits so well I want to use it every day. And why not? It has already proven it's versatility many times over.

A few WIWs and WIWWs:
#1with pants, from left:
a: WIwillW tomorrow: Red skinnies, cream lace shell, red patent flats
b: WIW last Wednesday: Cropped black pants, striped Breton, grey pumps
c: WIW last Tuesday. Navy draped top, jeans, oxfords
d: WIwillW later this week: White jeans, blue silky tee, snakeskin flats

#2 With dresses and skirts, from left:
a: WIwillW very soon: With the Boss LBD, leopard scarf, flats.
b: WIW for our Constitution day: Cobalt dress, white clutch, grey pumps
c: WIwillW: Black lace shell, polka dot skirt, snakeskin flats

I think this jacket works with 95% of my bottoms, and most tops, too. I love it, and it's already an essential in my wardrobe. Serendipity were at work here! I will continue exploring the possibilities with it, and I've also been pondering on why I find it this useful in my wardrobe. I think it has to do with the level of dressiness (not too formal), the fabrics (cotton/linen with mainly cotton lining), and the ebony color that adds enough contrast to my skin and hair.

Yippee! I was hoping you'd show this a bunch of different ways. I knew it would work really well for you! Isn't that funny -- the way an item might languish in someone else's closet yet become our workhorse?

I like it every single way you've shown it, but my favourites are #2 and #5. Fabulous looks! I'll bet it would look good with the butterfly skirt, too.

I often have this question also about the items that end up being workhorses. I can't always predict them in advance. I don't really know what it is that sets them apart - they just somehow fill a missing piece that I didn't even know was missing!

In this case, I think you are right - it has the right blend of casual and dressy. The fabrication also seems very "you" -- it's not too crisp and not too soft. There's an almost organic texture to it, which plays nicely against crisp graphic stripes. And of course the colour is so versatile as well, and must feel very spring like after a winter of darks. Plus, in your climate, you will probably be wearing it all summer.

It is great to know it fits so well. Now you know that this size of jacket will pretty reliably be good for you at BR.

I am SO happy you love the jacket, Ingunn. It really is absolutely perfect for your style and your coloring. You always make the effort to style each new item in your wardrobe thoughtfully, and this is no exception. I am really impressed by how well it works with everything.

Wishing you a long and happy summer with the safari jacket! It will do you much more good in your cooler climate than it did languishing in mine last summer. Cheers to a successful YLF transaction!

Suz, thanks you! I knew that I would love it from first sight, the only insecurity was connected to sizing. Thanks to accurate information from nancylee I felt confident that it would work out. I have another BR jacket, too, my BR blazer, but it is the same size in petite, so that put me off at first. I'm so glad i took the chance. The shoulder and bust measurements are the same. You are perfectly right, it is so useful in my climate. In regards of style - I felt at home in it from the moment I put it on. It is dressy and casual at the same time - perfect!

Yay! I knew it would look great on you, but how wonderful that it's proving to be super-versatile, too! I have a couple of "not quite business-y" blazer/jackets and that little bit of informality makes them so much more useful to me in my everyday life. And they can stand in for business attire, if necessary.

I love this on you, and all the ways you've styled it. Is it replacing a white blazer or topper for you, or is this the first time you've had a white jacket?

What a fab jacket Ingunn! I like all the iterations you have shown in your pics. Probably my faves are the one wtih the black trousers and the black dress with the animal print scarf. I am actually very taken with the style of the jacket; and I have a length of pale sage green chino type fabric that I might make something very similar with

Ingunn, once again you come through :). This looks awesome in all the ways you've styled it. And the workhorse question is an interesting one isn't it... I ususally find the opposite, I get something picturing all the ways I'll wear it, thinking it'll be a workhorse, and it ends up getting worn rarely. Strange.

What a great wardrobe addition. Your posts like this are so helpful - all the outfits look great - I esp. love #2, and it really gives such a wonderful example of what we can do with just one new piece.

I have a new linen blazer that I hope to get as much use from this summer. This gives me a lot of inspiration. Mine is very light weight so I'll def. have to make peace with the crease as they say.
