WIW: Rust, denim and new bag

This is my first WIW so excuse the facial expressions, I've always detested having my photo taken.

Pale rust straight jeans, with a darker jumper (sweater), denim jacket and my new bag.

I started out with flats but after I taken a photo I realised how they emphasised my 'athletic' thighs (sigh).

I'm a bit worried that the jacket (in fact any jacket really) makes me look like a linebacker, my shoulders are so, so, square.

I love my new bag but I wonder if the scale is a little big for my small frame (I'm 5'3).

Any comments welcome.

Congratulations on your first WIW. It gets easier, but you look terrific! The pale rust is a gorgeous color on you. The blue of the jacket is striking with the rust and another beautiful color on you.
The bag size is a bit big but that seems to be the style. It looks fine to my eye.

Ooh I love the peachy tones, they're fab! I think your shoulders are absolutely fine and I rather like the way straighter shoulders make jackets hang rather well, as yours does. I do have a preference for the higher boots and you've got the jeans scrunch spot on for PPP. Bag size looks good too. Congrats on your first wiw!

Welcome! Your first WIW is brilliant! Love the warm color pallette! And your thighs and shoulders look normal to me :). I struggled with taking photos too and how weird I looked in them! So I understand where you are coming from!

Welcome! The colors you chose look wonderful with your warm, delicate coloring. And I don't see any linebacker shoulders or "athletic" thighs at all.

I love those colours on you! So beautiful & flattering. The jacket looks good; I feel self conscious about my shoulders sometimes too (in fact, linebacker is exactly the word I use to describe how I look in a strapless dress), so I understand. But looking at them, they look the same width as your hips, giving you a quite balanced figure, definitely not linebacker-esque. The bag is very fun and doesn't look too big to me; I'm 5'3" also and my 2 bags are at least this size, if not a bit larger. Of course, maybe I'm just wearing them too big for my frame! hehe

You have a fab strong shoulder line and the denim jacket fits quite well. I don't see any linebacker!???!! I just see a well put together outfit, love the peaches with your complexion! I would have been so curious to see your 'athletic' thighs when wearing the flats, as now they look very proportional!:-) Besides all, you have a great fgure and hair, oh-and Welcome!

I love the heeled shoes with these pants-- the long pant legs and the heels make your legs go on forever! And I don't see linebacker with your shoulders in the jacket -- I think the cut works well and the blue is great with all the rust and peach tones. Fantastic!
As others have said, you might be happily surprised how WIWs help you with your picture taking comfort.

Thank you all so much for your kind words. I've been reading YLF for about a year now but it was the change in the privacy policy that gave me the confidence to finally post, that and seeing how kind and inclusive everyone is in this wonderful community.

I look forwards to getting to know all of you better and sharing the ups and downs of a 'stylish' life.

Welcome, you did a fantastic job of interpreting Angie's peach-brown-navy ensemble. Whether consciously or not. I don't think the bag is too big. Your proportions make you look taller, I would have guessed at least 5'5" not 5'3".

Welcome, and I really like the color scheme on you. The pants seem a little long but that's my only quibble. Great idea to shoot a side view, I should really do that myself.

Laura, I think you right, the jeans are a bit long. I've been meaning to get around to shortening them but I don't have the right colour thread. Maybe they'd look better cuffed until I get around to doing it.

Welcome jelo! You are right on trend with the peach brown and blue tones (see recent blog posting)! And you look great in this palette! I don't see the satchel as too big for you in these pics. I love the detail! Overall: relaxed yet put together. Winner!!!
